Everything you just said, I completely disagree with...

If we're considering the baby's welfare as opposed to our own, if two teenagers or young adults are not able to support or look after a new born baby and it's quality of life is going to be terrible, why should it be exposed to that degree of suffering in the first place?

And I know you're gonna say 'oh well, just put them up for adoption', seriously life as an adopted child isn't a peice of cake, nor is it a peice of cake to be adopted in the first place. There's a good chance that child could grow up without parents, all alone. If I was a mother who cared about my baby in the slightest, I would abort.

Also, your statement about 'selfish self indulgent lifestyles', who isn't selfish and self indulgent in their teens? That's part of being a teenager, looking out for numero uno and learning that the world doesn't revolve around you. I dunno about you, but I'd rather not learn that lesson through becoming a teenage father.

Also, who said you aren't being selfish by aleviating yourself of the responsibility of the child by putting it up for adoption as opposed to 'murdering' it? In a sense, you're aleviating yourself of any decisions regarding the child's life. I have massive respect for any mother who's willing to choose an abortion for their baby, as it's not as easy as you seem to think.

Yeah, they should, but they don't.
Look around newschoolers.. especially the ladies men cult. All these boys are like "OMG LOLZ I tOtaLLy goT LaiD!!"
Probability that they didn't think about getting her pregnant: very high.
Not very many teenagers think things through like they should. That's part of being young.

And I'm not saying that I'm oh-so-perfect either, I've made my fair share of mistakes.. big ones.. but fortunately, I didn't ever have to worry about being pregnant or something else as serious as that.

Just remember it's a 50/50 effort. The responsibility goes both ways to make sure something like that won't happen. True, most guys don't think it through like they should, but girls also need to remember to tell them no condom no sex.

it depends on what stage the baby is in. if its in the third trimester, then NO WAY. thats just fucked up. before that, it depends on your situation i believe.

Adoption is a success and it is a better option, when you get pregnant its not about you anymore, its about that little life that girl is carrying around. I bet if you ask any adopted kid if he would have rathered his birth mom had an abortion or give him/her up for adoption he would opt for the adoption. Dont give me this hard life crap, who doesnt have it hard?

i cant see how anyone that is anti abortion can even press their opinions on the mothers. you guys have no clue what these women have to go through. they have so many options and in the end they all will affect her for the rest of her life. now weather they did take the right procautions and a condom broke or birth control failed, its still her choice. and if shes a hooker on the street its her choice. and no one has the right to tell her what she can or can not to in order to prevent herself from having the baby if it is safe. While adoption is an option it really fucks up the kids. Most kids really feel incompleat growing up in a foster home never knowing their own parents. and even if they do get adopted your still not living with your blood. everyone that is truely anti abortion really needs to walk a mile in the shoes of a woman that is considering abortion. and they need to consider their future.

Alright, first off, we as culture have glorified sex, look around you, there are 15 year old girls up on billboards half-naked to sell fucking clothes, it's ridiculous. Sex isn't a bad thing, in the right way, the problem is we expose young teenages and children even to this kind of thinking, so by age 14 they are out having sex, when they are neither emotionally or mentally prepared for what can happen as a result of these actions. I'm completely and totally opposed to abortion (save for special circumstances), it is wrong and sickening...for all you people who say that it's not a person, it's just some cells...fuck that, when someone tells you they are pregnant, and they don't know what they are going to do, it isn't because they got a few extra cells, it's because they know they are carrying a human life inside them, and that means something, it carries alot a weight because it's serious. Adoption is always a better option than killing off an innocent life simply because it inconveniences you, that is noting but selfishness, another product of our culture. The death penalty is not related as far as I'm concerned, but I do agree with it, and here's why...anyone who actually receives the death penalty has clearly done something to deserve it (raping and killing mutiple woman for example), abortion is the killing of a person that has done nothing wrong, it doesn't have a choice, it didn't make the decisions that led to the punishment of death, you can't compare the death penalty and abortion, they are not alike in the slightest.

ok, the link that was put up posts ago was a PRO LIFE website. lets remember that point to start with.
there is alot of controversy about this group, and a movie that they put out a while ago called the silent scream. they used donated organs, cut them up past recognition and put them into buckets, photographed them and said "these are whats left after an abortion" and also showed a movie on a foetus moving away from the instruments used to perform an abortion. as it was explained, this would be a reflex to movement in the womb, as perception and nerves havent developed at that stage.

second, im not sure about america, but in australia we have laws about how far into a pregnancy an abortion can still be performed, and its something like about 12 weeks (i think, prob wrong)
i doubt that ANY doctor would perform an abortion that close towards birth.

i think that it should be the womans choice no matter what, rape, personal choice or otherwise.

Id rather my girl got an abortion then got pregnant and had the baby and put it up for adoption. it would suck being like 40 and some random person comes knocking on your door saying they are you child. id rather just end it when its just a couple strands of dna. and for anyone who says, fuck you thats a living human being, when you get an honest answer from a fetus supporting the fact that it feels anything at the time of an abortion, im all for abortion.

I'm just going to throw another point across..
This thread is dominated by guys. That being, guys aren't the ones who get pregnant. I think there aren't as many emotional issues for guys to deal with when their girlfriend (or just the girl they slept with) is pregnant so it's easy to say, "Oh, just have the baby and put it up for adoption, whatever."
Guys don't exactly have to go through 9 months of being pregnant and giving birth to a kid.

^Absolutely, why go through 9 months of pregnancy if you're gonna put the baby up for adoption after you give birth? I think the that problem with most guys taking the moral highground in this thread is that they're overlooking what the mother has to go through, both emotionally and physically.

k so that sorta changed my opinion BUT i think its still up to the person who is having the baby. If the person really wants to live with the fact they aborted their baby then its their problem to deal with. i just dont think it is fair to take away the mothers choice

I see nothing wrong with the death penatly, hell, it'd be easier to put a bullet in their head then let them live off us for the next 70 years. Call me extreme but I'm sure they did somthing worse to get the death penalty in the first place.

is that why the supream court ruled the death penalty cruel and unussual and that each state needs to decide weather it should be a form of prosecution. and its not done by a bullet, its leathal injections.

And why is it that all the radicals I see on this issue are Pro-life? What kind of sick people go and take a very private and emotionally disheartening issue and then go and fucking broadcast it with huge posters in public? And why are those people always men?

what if there's a 17 year old kid who is unwilling to have a child, and completely not ready financially emotionally whatever, just would not be able to support a kid, or doesn't want one.

and the girl WATNS the baby. well, in that case, should the women get to keep the baby and not bond the man to any kind of support?

I'm also aware that most men would probably end up providing support to a child of their own, even if they really, really didn't want to

If the girl I was dating wanted to keep the baby, and I honestly couldnt support her working 10 hours a week and doing classes. But I would do the best I could. I would probably have to work more and take less classes and graduate later, but even with that, I still think that having a baby would be harder on the girl. It would also still be my kid, however unplanned it was, and thus I would try and do the best I could for it.

Having a unplanned pregnancy can screw up both of the parents lives, especially if it happens at a young age. But the woman will still go through more than the guy ever will, and thus I think we should respect her decision. Paying child support is the least we can do as guys.

but you got one thing a little off, unplanned pregnancy fucks up 3 people's lives. one that didn't even have to be.

I know it's done by Lethal Injection's, and it take's too long IMO. People talk about how crowded jail's are, 1 bullet to the head will take care of sombody in 5 seconds. If you haven't noticed I dont give a fuck about prisoner's (who have the death penalty) rights

You're right, so here's a novel fucking idea...don't have sex unless you're ready to face the possible outcome of your actions. If you think you're old enough and mature enough to have sex, then you should be ready for a baby if it happens...if you're not ready to support and care for a child, then don't have sex, end of story. People need to learn a little self-fucking-control.

Abstinance works for some, but for the majority of people, sex is too much fun. Its like a fair - Rollercoasters there are a lot of fun, but every year someone gets killed on one. You never think about that usually when you ride one, you're just concentrating on having a good time. And the majority of people that ride one walk away with a smile. Should we stop riding rollercoasters because a few people get driven away from the fair in an ambulance? I think there are acceptable risks in every activity, and as long as you are responsible and dont go on the sketchy rides, you'll be ok for the mostpart. And if shit happens, just be responsible.

im pro life in this matter. even as sasha said about, 'whta if they got unlucky and were already taking precautions' well.. i guess that's just the risk you take when you have sex any time. and if someone gets pregnant who knows cant support the kid, that's exactly whta adoption agencies do. There are so many people out there that want kids, that cant have them, and they look to adoption agencies. in the 9 months it would take to grow a baby then to give it away to make some family VERY VERY happy... why would you want to deal with the guilt of killing that baby before it even had a chance. that's just me. I mean.. sure alot of girls might just go for an abortion because they're family might be ashamed to know they got pregnant, but reality is... in all the young girls iv known that have gotten pregnant (which is ALOT), they're parents have supported them every bit of the way, no matter how much they werent expecting such a life altering thing. I say pro life. i just think abortion is so unfair.

the thing is, the baby is not aware of the fact that it is alive. some famous philosopher said "I think, therefore I am". A 4 week old fetus(sp?) doesn't think in the same way that fully developed humans do. Saying that abortion is murder is the same as saying masterbation is murder. you're just stopping what could've been, not killing something that "is".

And you can't say that a fetus doesn't think the same way a full grown human does, that's like saying a 1 year old doesn't think the same as 10 year old, so we should kill all the 1 year old kids, totally moronic. And yeah, you run the risk of gett pregnant when you have sex, but unlike the rides, a fetus (again) didn't make the choice to ride it) I would agree if we were talking about STD's, because that is a risk, like riding a roller coaster, but abortion is totally different.

Of all the stupid comparisons in this thread, I love how you choose mine, simply because I don't agree with your crueland self-centered point of view. You can't say what a fetus thinks or feels, how the fuck do any of you know whether or not it has self-recognition? You don't, so to say that a fetus doesn't know it exsists is a guess at best. I don't care what any of you people think, you're not going to sway me from thinking abortion is fucked up, you're taking the life of a child that would otherwise be perfectly healthy and destoying it because it doesn't fit into your plans at the moment, and that is fucking selfish and sick.
