Now i see you guys ripping the ski patrol all the time on this site so i have a question for you. How many of you out there would take a job as ski patrol if it were offered to you? I meen skiing everyday of the season and getting paid to do it
Now they wouldnt make you be an asshole or anything, you could be the tight ski patrol that some people say exist. But anyway how many would take this job? or would you rather just be a liftie?

i would do it if i just had to wear like a vest that said i was in the patrol, the one piece suits with the big plus signs on them and really gay and i wouldnt wear one ever even if i was skiing and getting payed for it. they gotta chafe your balls and shit. But getting back to the topic id be a chill instuctor and be the only one on twins, id rock.

i would, i'm going to be a paramedic and one of the lead up courses into paramedic is emr wich is basically all the trainning as ski patrol so when you take that course you get a free pass for all the mountains

i would do it... our resort, well ski hill isnt big and patrol gets paid. i wouldnt do vollunteer though for obvious reasons

When you consider that most patrollers get to ski free when they aren't on duty, it wouldn't be so bad. Besides, you get to ski all the untracked in the morning before the resort opens in order to check out all the runs. You would have to ski sans poles though, since you need to be prepared to drag the toboggan with you.

i am one! it is the bomb! skiing the park mid-week when no one is in it, powder all the time, cause you are first up the mountain, fresh everything, plus all you do is ski.

I'd be a ski patrol, and a pretty cool one too. I hate the ones who are all like 'You were skiing too fast and endangering the people around you' when there obviously aren't any other skiers on the stupid trail that I was skiing on. So then they take my pass and I have to pay for a new one...

i'd do it for sure as well. as was said before, most of them are volunteer, unless at the big resorts, but even then, more than half at whistler/blackcomb are volunteer.
but it would still be sick, skiing pow in the early morning, discounts on equipment and free pass, how can you go wrong?

the only reason i am a patroler is cause of me being an EMT and the pure love of skiing. i never pull tickets or stop people, cause when i free ski all i do is go fast and duck ropes.

I have been skipatrol for over 7 years and I fuckin hate it now. I just had a season pass and would rather ski than be affiliated with the patrol. Maybe thats just the patrol I am on. They are all fuckin assholes and politics. Fuck them, fuck them in there stupid asses.

its only worth patrollin at a nice resort. i live in SE michigan and theres a place 20 min. away that has 200 ft vertical. the only thing that's alright is there parks, and theyre probly bigger than the rest of the hill.

it depends on where you live, if you are in the east/NH you only need your OEC (outdoor emergency care) some places require a full EMT/OEC. You must have a profesional CPR. If you really want to become one, contact your local ski area for more info. You really do have to put a lot of time and effort into it caus the classes are sooooo time consuming. like midjib said, some guys on the patrol are total asses and they are just fuckin ski nazis. some just suck balls.

yeah i would do it, next year the ski patrol at winter park is getting oakley uniforms and you get discounts on food and ski gear plus you get to ride park and pick up people all day

I skied with some blackcomb patrollers on one of their days off this season- and those guys were some of the raddest guys I have ever met. They are young, and live to ski, and used some of the funniest pickup lines on me that I have ever heard! Sure we can rip the useless loser patrollers but there are definetly some dope ones out there. Here's my fave line from Munro, a patroller on Blackcomb mtn: 'Know what I had for breakfast today? A cup of coffee and a BIG FAT doobie!!!' So power to the cool patrollers and I would take that job ANY day!

I am a ski patroller at my mountain.. just have to wear a jacket and the backpack with a first aid kit. you don't get paid..just free lift tickets in the area..

Id patrol. Most of the patrollers are really cool except for the assfuck that almost pulled my pass because I jumped a fence out of the terrain park. Or the guy that almost pulled my friends pass because he jumped 4 feet off of a broken lift instead of waiting to be taken down. Stupid pricks

I patrol, it was really bad this season because I partol at grouse and there was no snow, but on a regular season it would be awesome, 1st one up and I dont get in shit for skiing OOB cuz I can say that I thouhgt I saw someone duck in. I do it volunteer but I get a seasons pass.

Yo most ski patrollers are pretty nice guys and girls. one time at sugarbush we kept hittin deeper sleeper which is a tree trail and it closes at 3:00 for some reason. we got up to the entrance of the trail and saw that they had closed it up and we were like shit what now. a ski patrol guy came up to us and said go ahead and if anybody gives you trouble tell them to radio number 8 and ill let you guys off. so we went into some trees up at the peak that wasnt even a trail later on but had sick pow and we ran into a patroller half way down. he radioed the 'number 8' and let us off the hook, it was sweet.

yea im a volunteer patroller at winter park, but i get the sickest benefits ever, like free goggles, and clothes and 45% off the hard goods, plus free skiing, and being able to go an the avy bombings
