I had to write a bio for english... got most of the info from freeskier...
Tanner Hall was born October 26, 1983, in his hometown of Kalispell, Montana. Now he is 19 years old and a highly rated freestyle skier. When he was twelve years old, he didn’t know much of anything about skiing or care much about it either. Then he saw “State of Mind”, a Johnny Decesare’s skiing video and thought it was awesome and looked like fun. From there, he started skiing.
He started out by skiing his local mountain, using the most challenging terrain he could find. At age fourteen, he decided that he wanted to ski more. His parents sent him to a ski academy in Park City. The school environment of wanting to create strictly ski racers made him want to drop out of school entirely.
Tanner dropped out of high school at the age of 16, so he could have a career in freestyle skiing. In the 2000-2001 season, he put together one of the best seasons in freestyle skiing competitions. Tanner’s first competition was the Winter X Qualifier for the X-Games, and he ended up in first place. Then he won the Superfly Slopestyle, another Winter X Qualifier, and the U.S. Freeskiing Open Big Air. Then The U.S. Freeskiing Open Slopestyle and Half-pipe competition came around, where he came in third and fourth. Tanner said that after he won the Red Bull Huckfest, he knew he had a good year. After the Huckfest, he came in second for both the Core Games’ Big Air and Quarter-pipe comps.
Tanner’s sponsors were Rossignol and Oakley, but recently he and five other skiers, J.F. Cusson, J.P. Auclair, Boyd Easley, Anthony Boronowski, and Juilien Regnier-Lafforgue, dropped their ski sponsors. They all created a new ski company called Armada Skis. They haven’t released their first line of skis yet, but will be by the middle of December. Tanner and the others have all put a lot of time and effort into making the best quality freestyle and backcountry skis yet. They will be competing with the other top of the line ski company Line skis.
Tanner isn’t too cocky about how good he is. He thinks that all the backcountry skiers who ski cliffs, steeps, and trees are the crazy skiers. Tanner would in fact rather be skiing down an unmarked train than jibbing around in the terrain park. Being a high school dropout, he seems like he would be the devil child always causing trouble, but he really loves his parents and is nice to people and kids. He is very respectful to others.
Tanner Hall has appeared in four videos. More videos means more sponsors. One of the video producing companies is Poor Boyz Productions. For them he did the video “13”, and it was his first video. He also did “Degenerates” for them, being his third video. The other company is Teton Gravity Research. For them he did “The Realm”, and that was his second video. The other video he did for them was “Area 51” being his most recent one.
Tanner is a well-respected skier in the still growing sport of freestyle skiing. He is also very young at age 19 to be so recognized by many skiers across the country.
