(i wrote thsi thing out very well before, but i fucking hit back and deleted teh whoel thread)
given the controversy over keegan's article not being able to be submitted to the front page due to the fact NS modds don't know the content of the film, it got me thinking.
I'll post the longer, reasons behind my logic, version later, but for now...
I think it would be cool, and a good promotional tool for the am movies, if they were to submit their entire movie to the NS.com crew. Then the crew would pick a random standard arbitrary point to start from in every movie (say 1/3 of the way though) and post a 2 minuteclip following this arbitrary point (using the smae point of refrence in each would prevent comparing the climac of a film to the boring middle of another). This would provide a good feel for the film, and would eliminate dependence on trailers, which can misrepresent a movie (ahem robots). yes, it would put alot of trust in NS.com, but if you can't trust the mods who can you trust?
i think it's a good initial idea, but it coudl use a little shaping

yeh that would be dank. instead of just the 1st 1/3 or whatever, just favorite sement or if there was just an am movie link somewhere where movie companies could post a segment randomly or something

i thought just selecting a short (2-3 min) RANDOM clip ([i]after[/i] the first 1/3 of the film, not [i]posting[/i] the first third of the film) would give an unbiased representation of the film. i thought having a short clip starting from the same arbitrary point in every movie would eliminate people from posting the best clip and misrepresenting their movie, and having to give away the best part.
posting a random seg. would be a little easier/practical though

do like theory 3 did, and release one guys whole segment. wiley millers part made me want to buy the movie.

yea i was hoping a random spot would overlap segs...maybe a 1/2 and 1/2 seg clip would be best (en dof one seg beginnign of another) so you could see a variety of editing/riding
still think theres something to the random effect b/c companies picking their own clip will always tend to inflate.

You know the other thing is that it'd be really sweet if everyone sent us a copy of their movie... think of how many are out there! Only way to have an opinioin on a video is to have seen it and all other projects by same company.
