Knee surgery tommorrow.........

hey guys,
so im goin in for surgery tommorrow for what theyve diagnosed as a torn acl and meniscus tear, my knee feels pretty good tho so im hoping it wont be as bad as the diagnosis. but regardless it will be a long rehab and im missing my junior soccer season and prolly this whole ski season. needless to say, it sux balls. however, looking ahead ive got some questions for those that have had it done:
is it possible to make it back before 6 months in like 5-5 and a half months if you hit rehab hard?
how long were you on crutches for?
what was the hardest part about coming back?
how do you know when your ready?
if im going in tommorrow, what are my chances for being 100% come early april for baseball season?
any answers or just general advice about similar injuries/rehab would be greatly, greatly appreciated. thanx so much

well i tore my rotator cuff and my lebrom which is kinda the same thing. cept i also had some bone chippage in there. i was out for like 10 weeks. but im guessing the knee will be a bit worse since its bigger and such. but yeah i missed a whole week of school cause i was in a vicodin haze the first week. then after that week i never took it again.

DRAG dude! i've never blown a knee but i tore some tendon in my ankle. i didn't have to have surgery cuz it didnt tear all the way through but i was still laid up for like 6 weeks. best of luck man.

depends. if you have reconstructive surgery it will take longer. if just removing stuff its faster. just rehab like crazy and don't push it too much

I got my surgery two months ago. I doubt you'll be skiing this season though, that's one of the hardest sports you can do on your knee with all the twisting and instability.
I was on cruthces for two weeks, but I was walking without them after a weekish- but th edoc said I was supposed to keeep them. I said fuck it and walked aorund my house without them.
I had a cryo cuff with constant ice to keep it cold, and my knee has healed awesome. I'm not supposed to be able to run, and the other night I tried. I can-just kind of akwardly. Don't worry about the surgery, it's not bad since you're out for most of it.
My second night home however was absolute hell and pain. So I'd recommend using the T3's they'll give you, even though you're supposed to wean off them. I didn't have any in me and it was the most pain i've ever been in in my entire life.

ouch that sucks man i dont know how i would live without skiing for an entire year. the most ive done ligament wise is i tore both the ligaments in my thumbs at momentum this summer. i didnt get surgery cause it was only a partial tear but i had cast on both hands which was kind of awkward

ok. hell no you wont be playing basketball 100% by april
you wont ever be 100% again
you can get close.. and make up for it with your quads, but youll never be 100% in your knee again
thats what they told me anyway
and i was on crutches for 5 days haha
i just walked with a limp for a while
i tore my acl & meniscus as well in february, i had surgery in march, so if youve got any questions just pm me or something, and meanwhile ill send you an invite to the ski injury cult
yuppp
