Replying to New Ski Poles? Does it matter?

t's been quite a few years since I bought a pair of ski poles (my last were Scott World Cups from '96 or '97). Anybody have any thoughts on a new pair? And has pricing changed. This is probably the one piece of ski equipment that I have not followed since '96/'97.

I know that there are all sorts of new school poles from companies like Joystick and Armada and that Smith is no longer making poles, but has that much really changed since '97? And I'm not really interested in a pair of techie carbon fiber, trigger grip poles like the Lekis. Just a solid and light pair of aluminums will do me fine.
