Why? He just falls on his head. AMAZING. He just threw himself off a cliff with no intention of landing it and hoped that he would live. The guy's an idiot.

dude, i dont know if i would really consider it skiing. but it was nuts. lets see you even stand within 10 feet of a 245 foot cliff.

I agree with you on both points. It's not skiing. And you won't catch me on the edge of one of those, either. But the guy was ready to give up the rest of his life... for what? To say that he "skiied" off of a large cliff? Whatever.

he worked his way up to it. he didnt just throw himself off it one day.
think about it. you look at a circus act. those guys are flying from swing to swing, getting shot from cannons, and run the risk of falling like 30+feet. they didnt just get up one day and do it they started small.
he knows what is in his limits.

That has nothing to do with it. Just because he "worked his way up to it" doesn't mean he got better at it. As you see, he landed on his head. Maybe he should have landed an 80-Footer on his skis before he got any higher. I don't respect him because what he doing is not skiing.
Maybe you should realize that if just anybody jumped off a 245-Foot cliff and survived, people would likely be calling him crazy, clinically insane, suicidal, and of course very lucky. You probably wouldn't say "Oh that guy's sooo cool!". And you said it yourself, what he's doing isn't skiing, so what seperates these two people?

there was an article about it in Skiing this month. he did it to "prove the existence of God." The pic of the cliff was absolutely the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen tho

There's a piece on it in the new Fall Line mag (UK ski magazine). The photo is insane. I quote him here: "I'd like everyone to know I didn't jump for the film, photos or fame, it was to share my FAITH (to glorify God through my leap of faith)"

You should do a search on this topic if you want to see a ton of arguing about it. I think it was really cool, but his reasoning behind it may have been shaky at best.

His drop is in Corduroy, too, which is already out if you're dying to see it.

Ya Jamie Pierre is amazing. You cant say he sucks when he dropped a 245 foot cliff

A. I'll say what I please, thanks.
B. No, I'm not going to drop a 245-Foot cliff, because that would be retarded. It would serve no purpose at all, as all it would accomplish is putting my life in danger.
C. You think I'm ignorant? No shit it's a miracle he didn't die. I even said something to that effect above.

Double post, but I don't care.
He didn't DROP a 245 foot cliff. He jumped off with sticks attached to his feet. Usually people jump off large cliffs to commit suicide. Last time I checked suicide wasn't cool. But hey, maybe it is these days, with this whole emo fad.

So now you're saying he was trying to commit suicide and hes emo? Dude, stop trying to defend yourself. He jump off a 245ft cliff, which im sure he intended to try to land, but he got fucked in mid air, and landed on his head. Now the fact he is living has to be an act of God, i have no doubts there. Now im not saying 'ZOMGZ HES SUCH A GOOD SKIER!!!" im saying holy fuck, i wouldnt do that, no one else in the world would do that, wow he came out with a cut lip. Probs to jamie.

I didn't say either of those things, it was merely a comparison.
And please, don't tell me when I should stop defending myself, I'll make that decision on my own. Got it?

He jump off cliff? Yes he jump off cliff indeed!
Apparently he did intend to land it. But as you may or may not know, in a video interview Jamie Pierre stated that as long as he is able to get up out of his pit of snow, uninjured, and ski away from jumping a cliff, he considers it "landed". So yes, according to him he sure STUCK THAT CLIFF, didn't he?

it was his choice to go huck the cliff so people really cant give him sh*t for it. maybe thats not what your preference is but thats what got him going and excited him. if youve read interviews with him, its completely changed his life. it fulfilled a self imposed goal for him which is what matters. and im pretty sure he doesnt care what anyone is saying about it so this thread is completely moot and i dont even know why i just posted this.

alls i have to say is apski has a point it was kinda ridiculous ...but then again quite miraculous. my final comment is that i dont think he should have done it to risk his life to prove his faith to god...im syr but i kno a bit about god and proving ur faith in him by jumping off a cliff isnt rly wut got had in mind.

He lands wa«y to often on his back for my liking but yea he can ski some crazy faces too.

i did a 60 foot cliff last year. After that, i simply cannot comprehend jumping off of a 250 foot cliff. The numbers are mind blowing. I dunno if it's skiing or not, but I'll give Jamie Pierre props for having the balls/lack of common sense to essentially jump off a 20 story building. It definitely deserves recognition. That said, I hope it doesn't happen again any time soon.

I love how this man compare's Jamie Pierre's unbelievable lack of judgement to a circus! It's the perfect comparison! Because that's all it was right? A Joke? Just to prove that one can fall from 245 feet and survive? Now I'm sure everyone on here is tired of this thread popping back up to the top of the page but I just had to get my two cents in..

jamie isnt gonna do anything. he has specifically said many times in interviews that he is done doing insanely large cliffs and doesnt care if someone goes out and takes the record. he didnt do it for that.

Helmets are only good up to a 15 mph impact. It would have made no difference if he was wearing one or not. Jamie doesn't just huck himself off anything. He scoped this for years and it took just the right conditions on the right day. So check it out, cause it's big.

no respect ofr him or anyone else who just hucks themselves off of a ridiculous cliff, all his thanks to god is bullshit, if god were there that day, he A- wouldnt have allowed him to jump or B made sure he died. what an idiot to risk dying when he has kids and a wife.

What's the difference between him hucking a big cliff and you skiing a no fall zone. I bet you have people who care for you who would be upset if you died. It's an inherent risk of the sport, and if you're going to push it, you have to be willing to accept the fact that you may die. His wife and family would have to agree as that's what his job is.
