Editing Signature

I just went to update my signature i was going to use a bunch of tags for bold and italic to emphasize specific letters in order to have like hidden words/meanings, and it seems that when you use a bunch of tags it just makes your entire sig either bold or italic. just wondering if other people have this problem when they try it and if it can be fixed or is fixable.
