Hey i was looking at this ski and wondering if is worth buying....... i ski about 80 percent park and 20 percent all mountain i'm 6ft and 160 pounds o yea and i live on the east coast. Can this ski hold up well in the park?
i've never ridden it, but from what i understand the karma is an extremely versatile all-mountain ski. it's not the best park ski, but it holds its own. if i were you, i'd look for a more park oriented ski.
They actually aren't too heavy. I just got last year's in 185cm, mounted with S914. And they weigh almost the same my CR's with S914, and the Karmas are 4cm's longer a bit wider. I'm not sure if the CR's are considered a heavy ski, but the Karmars are definitely close to the same. Then again, it's hard to tell just by picking them up.
WIth the amount of time you spend in the park the Karma isn't going to be your ski. It's probably the best all-mountain twin made, and if you get it in a size one smaller than your usual it'd make a killer pipe ski mounted at the FS mark.
Snag a set of new 4FRNT STL's if you want a solid park ski that can handle itself on the rest of the mountain alright.
If you're spending more time on the mountain than in the park, then the Karma is one of the best skis out right now, but if you're not, then you'll be using it for something it was never intended to do. Volkl makes a park ski, the Dogen.
They definitely are really stiff, but not much stiffer than the CR's. If you are heavy than they would make a good park ski, but definitely hard to butter.
you guys are under rating their park ability ALOT. i am basically the exact same stats as you dude and i am getting the new karmas in 185. i ski 80 park and 20 everything else...east coast as well...
if u even doubt their park ability for 1 second...consider this...
in whistler they were used alot by slopestyle skeirs and pipe skiers.
-volkls whole pro team used them as their ski in the orage masters (park comp) and they all killed.
-enough riders use them alot more in the park than you think.
i would suggest them for you as we are basically the exact same exept i am 1 inch taller and 5lbs heavier. if u like stiff skis...its perfect.
if u think they are going to be to stiff for you or want a more park oriented ski than go something like ar6... or foil...for me and you(thread creator) i would say
1.karma
2.foil
3.ar6
