one day, i decided to be a little nerdy and opened the newspaper
and to my shock there was a whole article on dmb...now some completely wacked out 67 year old man wrote this and in his 'professional' opinion, dmb is the next grateful dead...now, i have my opinion on this, but what do you guys think of it?

dmb? please. I dig the music and all, but in no way will anyone match the excellence of the grateful dead. Bands like Phish have a bigger following than dave, but dave is more mainstream so not many people would recognize that. But there will never be another dead. never.

yea i was reading in my friends book about the dead that in like 1967 jerry was tripping for most of the year. Fuckin insane hah i have heard that fact about the 10,000 hits of acid too. I know a kid who has eaten over 200 and he is 19.

The guy who wrote this article is obviously a complete retard. Dave Matthews Band will never rival the Dead in anything. Not fans, not albums, not shows, and most certainly not music. The Grateful Dead are one of the best bands to ever grace the stage with their presence, and no whiny little guy named Dave will ever approach their status.

the greatest thing about the dead is their studio albums were fine but the real art behind their music was the fact that you can go to each show and they would have all been completely different from the other. the live shows are mostly jams. jerry always would forget words to the songs so there are just amazing guitar and drum solos that arent even planned. they rarely had a 'set' to play. there was a connection between those guys that another band will never equal. im not a huge fan of them but i do listen sometimes. well yea thats about it. yea and dave mathews is decent but nowhere near the music brilliance of phish or even ben harper. let alone the dead.

I absolutly love dmb. Im obsessed really, but they're nothing like the dead. Completely different in every way. The dead were just blatantly fucked up all the time, the music was just pure jam. DMB is so crisp and tight .
