ok, i wanna buy a welder for making rails. i know how to use a welder, but dont know about them. i found a few, lemme know if thsesw are good deals or not-

I have never welded with a good arc welder, so I am going to have to reccomend the stick. Also, look for a MIG welder, the kind that feeds the cable out, Those are really easy to use when you dont have that much skill.

Definantly get a MIG for making rails. Arc/Stick are clumsy things. You would have to go look at them to tell if they are any good. You can get half decent small MIG's from Canadian Tire, Lincoln Electric ones. There probably decent.

I dont know much about it, but my friend is amazing at it, this guy could make any rail you could ever dream of. He has all the shit, his own shop, $2500 MIG welder he got about a week ago, sweet set up. My brother builds custom bike frames, he TIG welds them, brazes too, so I know abit about it.

i learned at school,vertical welding was the hardest cuz all the pools of steel would drip all over you

Well, I dont weld. But everyone I know learned in high school metal shop. Not sure if you have that where you are. My brother just got back from Ashland, Oregon. He took a course at UBI on TIG welding bike frames, MTB, road, everything.

i have a friend who weld's rails, he made a sweet c rail that is like 25 feet long

Well, what the hell do you want to know? They all join metal together, either get a MIG or a stick, then start welding metal together, what else do you want to know, MIG are better, stick are cheaper. MIG feed the wire automatically, stick dont, MIG weld neat and clean, stick dont. They both weld real strong if you do it properly.

i would say spot welder but then i remebered you don't have $2000, i don't know i use gas welders cause my shop is poor.

dude, it depends how well your are with the arc, if you are really good with the arc then get it, it is a good deal. But if your just ok with the arc, then get the stick. It is easy to screw up welds with an arc. Offer the guy like $225 for it. But they are both decent welders, and pretty good deals. Later.
