i have some 06 175 vcts and 06 px 12 tis lifters. first should i take off the lifters. and where should i mount the vcts for backcountry jibbin, pow, cliffs, switch pow
looks like this thread isnt too active so here my input... i dont know about the lifters but the vct has two mounting lines right? one is almost true center and the other is like -7, for all the stuff you wanna do i'd mount em somewhere in betweem em at like -4 from tru cuz theyre fat and even if theyre far foward theyd still float fine plus you could shred backward better
you should measure them out to see where the lines actually lie in relation to center. Then post your height and weight. As far as the lifters go, I would say remove them. I think lifters are really only beneficial on groomers to give you more leverage for carving.
When you measure, set them on a flat surface, and measure from where the skis contact the surface on either end. In other words, when you measure do not include the tip and tail length, just the running surface. O and I noticed you want to buy a pair of 4frnt Deadbolts? I have a pair of last years never used, they are all black with army green print 614's. Pm me an offer.
The 4frnt center line is good. It is the true center. I would mount them closer to the freeride line though. Maybe 2cm foward of freeride at the farthest. You don't want to have to land on your ass every time you drop a cliff regular, that looks lame. You probably do more cliffs regular than switch, whether or not you'd admit it here, and you don't want to handicap the way it shreds big mountain.
So true. I don't care if you are Eric Pollard. You are still gonna be skiing forwards more than switch. Don't mount true Center with the VCT's. +2cm from the FR sounds like a good number, that is probably what I am gonna do on my Gotamas as well.
Not on 4Frnts. That is the one thing they have really going for themselves is they definitely make the lightest 104mm waist ski out there. Only the Kingswood Midfat comes close.
JP JULIEN? I think those totally have to lowest swingweight of a +100 cm waist ski. That aside, no you won't notice the swingweight at all IMO. I don't think you will be able to tell a difference between the FR and FS line at all.
^ok man. If you ditch the lifters... DON'T use the same screws!! Or if you're getting them mounted at a shop.. don't let them make the mistake of using your lifter screws. B/C they are longer.. and WILL punch through the base material.
I would just keep the lifters on there.
and I would mount them half way btw center and the freeride line. I think thats like -3 from center.
I just got some new 182's and I am 5'11, 170 lbs. I was thinking about mounting mine -3 from core center. I ride groomers switch about 65% of the time and I ride pow switch about 5% of the time. I am learning 180's off cliffs right now, and I have skied powder forward my entire life. I already have a pair of park skis. Should I go more towards freeride or should -3 be fine?
