just gets the attention of people browsing ebay.  i know that when i'm looking through ebay and i see a staring bid at like $300 i don't even look.  with this, he's still got 6 days left and is sure to get much more

Exactly. There are quite a few people watching all my items. Free market, they will pay what it is worth. The starting price has nothing to do with it.
