shit dude, yesterday, my brother was mad at my sister becuase she wouldn't go outside to bring him shoes to walk back to the house cuz he didn't want his feet to get wet, so he sprayes the hose through her window and covered her new macbook, the result: harddrive failure

I spilled a 1/2 litre of water through my keyboard.
I powered it down and took the battery out right away. Water was running out the BOTTOM of the laptop through the air vents...it was bad.
What i did was blow dry (on warm setting) every part of the laptop (keyboard, in the vents, etc. I also set it up so it could drain out the back the fastest. I also didnt turn it on for 2 days so i knew it was all dried out.
Seemed i got lucky and nothing happened. If you dont power it off right away and let it dry up, you run the risk even moreso of a short curcuit.

SOBE is likely worse then water.
It HAS water in it, plus all that other shit that makes it sticky when it dries. That stickiness can likely cause some serious shit

"Don't use a fan or (horrors) a hair dryer to attempt to fast-forward the drying process"
hahaha oops.
good ideas on there. i didnt think of taking everything apart and hand drying it.

your best bet it to just turn it off and let it dry out. DO NOT USE A HAIR DRYER

well guys here is a report from the morning. Everything seems to be working fine. The audio jack is fine. i also tried all the other ports on that side, which is where the majority of the fluid spilled. the usb port is fine, and the computer charges, no problem. The spill was not a ton of fluid, maybe an ounce or two max. I am just concerned about long term damage. Sobe is acidic as hell and I am concern about it eating away at the computer. The majority of my keys are fine but a handful are very sticky. Also in my quick dash to save my computer I flipped it over right after the spill. The sobe dripped out of the keyboard onto the screen. I have not done anything with the screen yet, because i do not want to scratch it. Any suggestions with cleaing methods? I can not scratch the display, or that is going to bug the hell out of me, since I do a lot of photo editing on this system. What about a lens cleaning kit? I would think that would be the least abrasive. I still cannot believe this happened. After saving my money up for a long time to buy this expensive computer, probably 3 times what most pay for a computer, I do something like this. I just can't believe it. This is like a nightmare to me. I am super anal about taking care of my stuff and this is what happens. It seems like this the people that are super careful with their stuff this kind of shit always happens and the ones that are super careless always get away with being stupid. Thanks for all your help.

You've got to be more careful man, don't even take those risks with such a nice machine.
I don't think sobe is going to "eat" away at your computer, it would have to be almost like bleach to do that.
And with the screen, maybe just try wiping it with a lightly damp goggle cloth.

at my sister's school, where they give them each a macbook, they say to clean the screen by using like windex, then wiping it off

DO NOT USE PAPER TOWELS OR WINDEX! Go and buy goggle lens cleaners and usually they come with a lil towel. You could even goto a sporting goods store and buy a cleaning kit to clean hunting rifle scopes. Works amazing!

I no longer have an iBook because someone spilled booze and it got into the logic board and fucked it up. So yeah. Have fun with that.
