Am I going to rip these bindings out?

Alright, so I'm looking for a Pow ski, and a couple pairs of JP vs. Juliens have come up, one with Salomon 912s...and one with Rossi Power 120s...here's my questio, I'm 6'4", 160lbs...which of these bindings is better, personally I've never liked Salomon bindings, they come loose and shit and just piss me off, I love the pivot series though, they've always been good to me, but I hear alot of people saying they rip out easy, and I will most likely have to redrill them for my boots, so am I going to rip out the rossi's? And will Armada waranty the skis if they've been redrilled?

The pivots do have a reputation for ripping out of those skis, but I think a good helicoil job may help. I'd rather risk that than spend my season chasing salomon-equiped skis down the mountain.

I would say at your size, you won't rip either of those bindings out.
If ethier of those bindings are mounted properly, both will do you well, which one you like better is personal perference.

Even if I redrill them? And what is a helicoil?

I would say at you size you could most definitely rip them (pivots)out. JP's + Pivots = no good. Armada won't even warranty them for that issue either. Salomon ones could be a better choice. But I don't like salomons either.

So why do they rip out? Someone said it's cause the screws are too close together, and someone said it's cause the screws thread pattern is tight, so could I just remount with some different screws and be alright?

as long as your not redrilling them close to the old holes.
If you are going to re drill and are worried helicoil mght be a good idea but isn;t nessary.
Helicoils are metal taps (inserts) that go into the ski, then the bindings are screwed into those metal helicoils.

Its b/c on p12's/p14's the heel screw pattern is indeed very close together. And if you know anything about physics and force.. more force on a small area would result in more pull force. Therefore a binding with a wide pattern spreads the force over more area.. and thus the binding is less likely to rip out.
It doesn't have anything to do really with the screws specifically.

easy fix - remove the bindings and bolt your boots to your skis. Can you say "never chasing skis again?"

get some look px bindings, they have a really wide screw pattern, or use the pivots with helicoils. stay away from salomons they're junk.

The base hole pattern is too small therfor the pressure is spread over a smaller area and ultimatly can lead to a weakness which could end up in you ripping out the bindings. But your not a big buy and it take weight and a high din to rip out a binder usually. This problem is the reason why Rossi went to the PX range. I prefer Solly's.

That might wreck havoc with your ACL's

I laughed when I read this, seriously the best idea ever. However, the guy with the skis saw my thread and PM'd me about it, and they aren't the pivot-type, they're the new ones, with the wide pattern, so I'll prolly end up getting them.
