udpate part 1:
O.G. Jibs in out of the way locations so you'll have to look for them...but not to0 out of the way that you'll be wasting time. O.G. whats that you ask? basically alot of the stuff that Jibassic Park started with in the early 1990's..picknic tables, steel and plastic barrels, lift tower jibs, cool old car, tree jibs.
Completely different night park area. The lower night park is being moved to below the superpipe with all of the top to bottom ski traffic moving to where the park used to be..all of those trees where finally cut down. New upper jump line in the gulley above and to the left of the pipe. There will still be some features in the old upper night park but the new line is the one which will flow and there will not be speed issues with the new upper jump line.
update part 2 coming later...I'm out of time right now

Sound sick. If I may add some thing, I would like to see the water tank jib built better. More half pipeish, if that makes sense. last year the ramp was to low and not verticle enough.
Cant wait to ski that shit man. Oh and are the two bottom jumps in the night park still going to be there?

Eric sounds good.
I hope more people follow suit with me and get the full pass this year like I did last year, well worth it for the main park and no crowds on the weekend.

s'up everyone
i just moved in to town and i have been reading the posts from you all. i was going to buy a Northstar pass, but it seems like everyone here says to go to Alpine Meadows and/or Boreal. If i had to choose between the two, what is the overall "best value"? i also saw that Boreal is having a rail competition. is it invite only? if so, how would someone go about getting into it? thanks, and i am so excited for this winter!

Alpine is the best value on the northshore for a good all around skier theres killer terrain and a quality park regardless of your skills there is something for everyone.
Boreal comp is invite only, acouple snowboarders poached it a couple hiyts last year, regardless you should come out its a good even t for early season

east, i reccomend you get BOTH alpine and boreal passes.
If you have some extra cash I got those two and northstar last year, if you ski every day like I do its worth it.

alpine is the best overall value for big mountain+ park. the rail jam at boreal is invite only and snowboarders only. where did you move from and to?

i just moved out from New Hampshire with some friends. we are living in near the golf course in Kings Beach. that is one reason why i was thinking about buying a Northstar pass. why is the rail competition just for snowboarders? thats pretty lame. thanks for the information.

Well apparently no ski company wants to put up any money. And I dont think any of the snowboarders want their cash going to skiers, so.... no skiers.

Yea well, I bet some riders on this forum would do it just for the soul factor and pride/respect.
Ill put 100 bones out there for skiers any day, drop me a mail if you want to get em out there Eric.
I hate segregated events, where is Sterbenz on this? He would throw something out there.

to answer C.J. , no, the lower jump line is history, too many traffic and speed issues. There will be a triple line starting up off of Prospector where you take the traverse to the superpipe. The line will then cut under the quad and go down the outrun after the pipe. The out run wont have any sizable jumps because its not steep enough but it has its advantages becasue it is it's own run so there wont be problems with normal skier/rider traffic getting in the way. You will be able to choose between a sizeable triple line or the superpipe/quarter combo both followed by several jibs and maybe a couples hips.

Finally have time to finish this update so here goes..
Big news for the superpipe...we added 6 new lights at the top shinning down the middle to eliminate shadows and light up both walls. The grooming schedule will be everyday between 2-6pm. Keeping it closed untill 6pm will give it time to refreeze so it doesn't fall apart during the night session and will require little or no touch up in the morning. This is the best time so that everyone can ride a fresh pipe at Boreal day or night. We also added more hook ups for snowmaking fan guns so we can open it earlier in the season.
With the lower night park now below the superpipe it will be easier to lap both the Accelerator and 49er chairs during the day. You'd be amazed how many people think Accelerator is our only lift to the top. Day riders will now be able to lap back and forth between these two park chairs without having to walk or pole over from the bottom of Accelerator to 49er. The wallride, staircase double line and watertower are in this area. We will building a jump line down the main run that this year we left open for normal traffic. Any features that we lose with the changes to the night park will be made up for in the 49er area.
From the top of 49er there will be jib lines through the woods again that lead to the Dutchman Chair. The main run will be similar to last year but we'll trade out 1 or 2 jibs for 1 or 2 more jumps. I'd like to see it more balanced with 3 or 4 jumps and 5 or 6 jibs in that line. The Boardercross course is going to get more attention this year. Last year we just kinda followed the natural terrain and not much else. We know where we wasted some time with features over there that didn't work. Those features are gone and that time and snow is going into the course. We're even making a permanent start gate for it so you race race your friends. There will also be a few features that lead you back to the bottom of 49er. The whole idea is get the lines dialed so that you can lap between the Accelerator, 49er and Dutchman chairs and not waste any time without hitting full park runs.
To the opposite side of the mountain, the Cedar chair will be rollers, micro jumps and ride on jibs. Its a good out of the way place that isn't crowded to try to draw first times out of the main park runs. Also right out front of the lodge opposite of where the lower night park used to be we are bringing back the Kidz X features from a few years ago. They're still small features but they aren't ride on like the Cedar chair features.
overall our goal is still to produce atleast 100 features on the mountain like last year but with a years experience, many lessons learned and alot of the culture shock out of the way, we look to have better flow and balance between jibs/jumps on all the park lines.
I've added a survey form to our website so I can get better feedback from you guys/gals on how we're doing. Please use it. Please use it constructively.
later skaters
