my top colleges right now are northeastern in boston, and bowdoin in brunswick, maine. they're kind of opposite really ,neu being a really big school in the city while bowdoin is a really small one in a really small town, but i love them both. check them out.
Look into University of Washington. Seattle is a sick city, great location, lots to do all season, like hiking, wakeboarding, kyaking, and yes, skiing. We have Crystal Mountian, Stevens Pass and the Summit at Snoqualmie which are all within 1 1/2 hrs from the city. Also, to give you an idea of what the snow can be like here, Mt Baker Ski Area, two and a half hours north, has the record for snowfall in a single season for the entire US, which was only a few seasons ago.
As for academics, UW is a pretty good school for just about anything, but is really strong in churing out Natural World and Sciency oriented people. Our Medical Center is 2nd in the US for Research Funding, after John Hopkins. The med school here is also rising in prestige every year. Check it out, I absolutely love it.
i've been wondering the same thing. i kinda just realized that im in 11th grade and it's pretty much time for me to decide about my fututre. i guess im gonna have to go through the like 20 threads about colleges first.
well i skied yesterday, 35 miles from my dorm, so I guess my college is a pretty sick ski school. I would say to move west if you want to ski some big mountains. from my college research montana state has the closest skiing that is really good. Bridger Bowl is only about 20 miles from campus.
if you like bowdoin.... i go to union which is a similar school, just in schenectady NY which is 15 minutes north of albany. i am a freshman and i absolutely LOVE IT here! it is really incredible- last year it was the #28 liberal arts school in the country for academics, tons of skiing ($20 tuesday and thursday ski trips), an amazing campus and partying like you have never experienced four days a week.
