Wow. Tony Hawk and a bunch of other pro riders were in MIssoula today to have a grand opening of the skatepark. And wow, is the new skatepark SICK!! It has a super chill street section with alot of ledges and smooth stuff to grind on. An awesome pool section with alot of hips and other features. Tony Hawk, Riley Hawk (his son), Andrew Reynolds, Alex Chalmers, Mike Vallely, Bam Margera, and some ams I cant remember names right now were all there. There were some BADASS amateurs there too that just blew my mind with how well they ripped all the features.
There was a humongous crowd, 10,000+. The event started about 1:00 pm and the riders cleared out the park and started to dominate it. It's amazing how these damn pros can just ride a brand new park and just find the sickest hits and just absolutely stomp something. Alex Chalmers is so fucking sick, he was doing these big airs over this hip thing. Andrew Reynolds dropped this big drop with a switch frontside flip. I got some of it on video so its gonna be cool to watch it again. This amateur kid, probably like 14 years old did this big ass alley oop 3 on this badass hip feature they have. This kid was so fucking good. Another kid did this big 360 flip drop just so smooth. I mean come one, these kids are travelling with Tony Hawk, they are amazing.
Tony Hawk also had a vert ramp setup that he brought with them and had a show on that after the park show. He threw down this sick ass 540 varial spin that was so fucking tech. It's insane how smooth these guys are on that steep ass pipe. I couldnt even dream of going as high as these guys are going in that shit.
Tony Hawk and crew were in Polson at the skatepark for a couple hours yesterday too, I showed up as they were leaving which sucked, but its cool to hear about they were shredding up my home park. It was worth missing though in Polson to see them skate hard as fuck in Missoula. There are going to be some sick riders coming out of that park now.
Ill work on getting some pictures up of the parks in Missoula and Polson.
Did anyone else go there? It was apparently a first stop on their tour of skateparks. Was so cool to see them all up in Montana having a grand time promoting a sick ass sport. Well done on the park by the builders, its very sick, the pros were loving it.
