...is insane. here's the deal. i am a skier and need to be around snow and
things like that. I am engaged to someone who isn't like that and who
built a house and is pretty much set to live where we live for life. i
can never stop thinking about being out west, and my friend's recently
offered me the vacant bedroom in their house to live in. the only thing
holding me back is my fiancee of course. we talk about it, he gets mad
then really really really really upset. i've never seen him like that.
yesterday he was crying and begging me not to leave, but in my mind, i'm
already gone. basically we built this house together and everything in
there i did...i am just wondering if he is going to go insane, or will
he eventually get over it

^ you're retarded. if you don;t have the love for skiing- then really you're on the wrong site here! shes not saying she is gonna be a ski bum forever- but that she knows skiing is an important part of her life and she wants that to continue through whatever relationship she may have. Her fiancee does not seem to see the logic in this (as it appears you do not either) and really the only response to that is... to bad. if you don;t feel the stoke of skiing then you're missing out on something truly incredible.

so don;t call her immature for wanting to hold on to that, or any of us for supporting that idea.

dudette, if your fiancee cant handle you going skiing for a while, then he shouldnt be your fiancee. Suggest renting his home built house out and living other palces for a while. If this sort of barrier is going to fuck up you engagement, then its probably a good idea not to get married.

in actuality, he's not retarded. he has had more experience on this topic than you, i can guarantee it. skiing was/ is an important part of his life, but he has also seen the real world, and moved on

i'm no 12 yr old newb here. so as much as his personal relations may be relevant i don;t think i'm out of line to say an "adult life" can be worked out while still including skiing in your life.

myself i had the opportunity to ski bum it out west after teaching there one season- but knew that to have things i wanted- such as house etc that wasn;t too feasible. so we make concessions- but i'm moving into a house thats 5 mins aways from the biggest ski resort in ontario on friday- so skiing has not been dropped from my life in any respect.

Yeah you're right naftel, Reedy doesn't give a shit about skiing, he doesn't have the "love" in his heart. That must be it.

If it's someone you actually want to marry then he must be a bit more important to you than picking up and slumming it in some westcoast burg. If you're 21, it's pretty fucked up that you're even making these decisions much less asking for advice about them on this of all sites, but hey, I don't know you. And your fiancee sounds like a dick, but hey I don't know him either.

Simply put: if you're actually worried about "resenting" your husband for tying you down, then why the fuck are you getting married at 21.

I've seen way too many of my friends getting hitched when they're 22, 23, 24 whatever man, its just way too young. And they're not happy either. Just dont rush into anything
