I'm looking to get a new longboard and I have a few questions for all you guys. I've been looking at mainly loaded and landyachtz boards because i've heard great things about both of them. But with landyachtz they have so many different boards i have no idea what to get(what size, shape, etc.) As far as length goes, i've riddne little 28in boards and longer 44in + boards but nothing in between. I love how on a short board you can do little slalom turns, but i also love the big huge turns you can make on a longer board. So i'm thinking about getting one in between so i can do both. What would be a good length for this sort of board? And do any of you guys have any reccomendations for specific boards in this size range. Basically I want something that can rip it up carving down hills of various sizes. One more question, is the extra hundred dollars for a loaded board worth it?
yo man, from the sounds of it, you should get as close as you can to 40''. i ride a 42 and its perfect for me. i can do pretty tight slalom turns and huuuge laybacks and slides. if you want to be cruising hills alot, i would go with something like 40''. a shorter board will be a bit unsteady as you rip big hills. and as for what company to buy from, i'm not too sure. I've only ridden landyachtz, sector 9 and Arbor. but of those, arbor is BY FAAAAAR my favourite. take a look at them!
most landyachtz boards are very specialized, and although they perform insanely for what they're meant to do, they may not have the versatility you're looking for. they do have some all around boards, but IMO the "everything" board i have ridden made by them aren't as good as...say my loaded pintail. it's really personal opinion. do a lot of research and find what you like best. if possible try to make some friends that have boards and try out different brands and see what you like best.
yea it's true, the arbor has less flex than the average board, but it doesn't stop me from cranking turns. try some out! you just gotta ride a bunch and decide on what you like, stiff or flexy, long or short.
Holy shit go to home depot and buy your own compressed maple wood and make your own. Get some randal hardwear and your set. I did that and my longboards is just as good or better as one of those ones you get off landyatchs or original. But if you MUST get a board by yourself. Go to a local skateshop and get a sector 9.
And when you want to learn how to powerslide don't get suckerd into getting the 40 dollar gloves. Just cut up a cutting board into like 3x1 squares line em across a garden glove and drag it on the ground a bit and you got yourself a gettoh glove.
