Please help me with my computer

My computer freezes for like 10 seconds, every five minutes or so.  It's pissing me off so much.  The thing is, it never did it until I got out here to college.  And the only difference between here and back home is the internet I'm using.  I had wireless back home and im plugged in here.  Does anyone know what could be causing this?
