what the hell does progressive scan do. The camera has it as like the best option and whenever i put it onb it just makes shit choppy, i don't get it. In ski videos, you can definately tell if you look closly that the footy isnt smooth but its sorta choppy, is this because they setg the camera to progressive scan mode??!! If so what is the point of filming it that way?? PLEASE ANSWER THANK YOU
ok so the progressive scan on the vx shoots 16 fps, not 24p.
it isn't 16p either because all Sony cams shoot interlaced footage.
so basicly its 16 fps with each frame stretched out to a longer duration, so its normal motion, but with less frames, which is why it looks so choppy.
It is complete shit. never shoot with it.
ski movies shoot 16mm usually at around 30 fps on a 24p timeline, so it looks more "choppy" then a 60i cam but nothing like that shitty 16fps thing Sony has. personally I think the "choppy" look of film looks way better. Film actually isn't that choppy, the Sony's are just really smooth, and you are used to the 60i smoothness. If you edited entirely on a 24p system then you would get used to it sooo fast.
