Hey guys.. I've posted this on one or two other forums, just hoping for a good response here.
anyway, I've just purchased some K2 PEs, and now i'm on the hunt for some bindings.
Basically I was just going to go with the shops reccomendations, untill a friend who's a pretty compitent and long term skiier said to buy pivot's.
They are farking expensive though, - and I know i know, don't skimp on bindings.
so some help would be great ( please )
-thanks
ps. I'm 5'7, 140lbs,20years, so i've stopped growing, ski mainly all mountain/going to japan so there will be lots of powder involved. Small amounts of park skiing. ( maybe 10% if that )

Pivots (Look P and Rossignol Axial series are the old, and Look PX and Rossignol Axial 2 are the new) are the best freestyle bindings you can find. They have the most elastic travel of any regular binding out there (both old and new have the same amount of elastic travel,) which equals a better chance for recovery on sketchy landings. The PXs have more forward pressure than the old pivots, the result of a different heelpiece, and I personally like them better. Otherwise, they're practically the same.
As far as price, you can easily find some on the internet for less than $150.

they dont pivot anymore though, just so you know. They redesigned them and made the px bindings which don't pivot like the p bindings did, but they are still dope ass bindings especially for park. I looked around to get somethin else for a change of pace this season, but ended up goin with some rossis, not really anything else out there that impresses me nearly as much as the look/rossi stuff that isn't mad expensive.

I have P12s on my Mike Nicks, and they are such a good binding, I'm iffy on the PX though, they look nice enough, but the entire reason to ride them was because of the pivot, least chance of knee damage, and without it, it just seems like any other binding, when I get a new binding I'll probably try to find some old ones that pivot.

The pivot heel really didn't do much because there wasn't enough forward pressure to sanp it back in to place when after it turned. The PXs add forward pressure while keeping elastic travel and eliminating moving parts.

So are the new PX series better?...cause the reason I ride them, well one reason is cause I don't wanna mess up my ACL, and they pivot out and it means less chance of that, the new ones don't pivot, but are they better for not getting knee injurys?

Hey guys, thanks for the response.
Unfortunatly for me, I'm in Australia, so the bindings are more like $3-450!
By the sounds of things they are worth it though.
Are they suitable for powder?

Allright heres the down low on the pivot vs px. Basicly the whole advantage of the pivot is the ability to have a omni directional release. That means regardless of which way you fall you will coe out with little problem. The reason that the pivot was removed was because Look wanted a design with more forward presseure, hench the birth of the PX series. The only real downside to the PX series is the fact that they tend to release right to left <--> where the pivot would literally pivot and hold you in. They are both very solid bindings but for your use and case i sugest the PX series. Save some ash for a purchase down the road
