Flips and Spins

Ok theres so many inverts and types of spins and grabs in skiing and ive only been on the newschool scene for two years now, im confused. This is what i think the tricks are but i have no clue if this is right.
Rodeo-backflip with rotations
Misty-frontflip with rotations
D-spin-corked three to backflip
Underflip-180 to front flip
Overflip-180 to backflip
Corked - just tilted axis
Bio-like a sideways spin kinda deal
Lincoln Loop-like a cartwheel in the air
Mute-outside edge of left ski(under binding) with right hand and crossed up
Tail-outside edge of right ski(at the tail) with right hand crossed
Toxic-Inside edge of right ski(at the tail) with right hand crossed
Phil-Outside edge of right ski(near binding) with right hand crossed
Blunt Tail-same as tail just the tip is grabbed and not the inside or outside edge

yeah im a he and instead of bashing me for not knowing what they are mabye you want to tell me what they are. and yeah an underflip is a 90 licoln 90 but ive heard that the textbook underflip is just a clean 180 to front.

cause i dont belive in names like that, when u do a trick, if u know youve done more then 1 rotations and u land switch call it a 5 if u know you did more then 1 rotation and u land foward call it a 7, does it really matter what way and how your body flips?

This is how it works

Rodeo- backward flippyspinny thing
Misty- forward flippyspinny thing
D spin- spinny thing to to backwards flippy thing
Underflip- uphill flippyspinny thing
Overflip- downhill flippyspinny thing
Corked - fancy spinny thing
Bio- forward fancy spinny thing
Lincoln Loop- sidways flippy thing, possibly with a spinny thing at the end
Grab- touch your ski because it feels gooooood. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm grab

here is the key to skiing, if someone goes inverted and spins at the same time and someone asks you what it is u go that was definately a rodeo and they believe you

damn some of you guys are pretty cocky. 'i will never even do half of that shit in my life' wtf is that, i can cork and bio up to 5. underflip lincoln loop and backflip. and do just about every grab there is up to 3 and sometimes 5 natural. i just wanted to know the names of the fucking tricks, whats your problem. thanx to anybody who was cool about it.

you got most of em right, corked and bio you are a little unclear on.
remember that a rodeo is an OFF AXIS backflip with rotation, off axis flare=rodeo 5 and off axis backfull=rodeo 7.
same with misties, they are off axis fronts with rotation, off axis baranni=misty 5, off axis front full=misty 7, yada yada yada
corks are an off axis spin, you do em and you kinda lean back so you're perpindicular to the ground and you head is facing back towards the jump you just went off.
bios are the same except your feet will face back towards the jump

omg this is realy pissing me off, THIS IS WHY I TRY TO GET PEOPLE TO NOT USE ALL THE NAMES, they are ignorent and stuiped, it has been posted numorous times in this thread alone what rodeos and mistys are yet they still dont get it, this is why i say we should just fucking give up with all the names, everyone thinks of them diffrently anyway... not even the anoucers at the x games no what they are talking about

Ok, just saying off-axis really doesnt cut it. For example, just because its an off axis backfull doesnt make it a rodeo. There really are certain characteristics that make it what it is. A misty isnt just an off axis frontflip with spins, it is really more off a forward roll in the air, where at the end your feet come up over you like a backflip. Because it is possible to do misties without going inverted, you really cant call it an off axis frontflip.

Underflip is just a 90, to a lincon uphill, to 90. Overflip is just the opposite, 90, lincon downhill, 90.

Cork is a spin off axis, where you spin back and never go inverted. D-Spin is just an inverted cork, most of the time there is nothing remotly like a backflip in it. Bio is for the most part just a forward cork, thrown a little to the side.

I like to think of rodeos kind of as misties, only thrown backwards, and spinning kinda late. Rodeos almost ALWAYS go inverted, otherwise it is a flatspin. Flatspins are just frontflips, backflips, or lincons at a sideways axis, so that you never go inverted.

Another point, a misty 5 does, in fact, have a rotation of almost 540 degrees. Most people think of them like an off axis frontflip 1, but this is not the case. When people start to throw them really inverted, then it starts to look like a rotation of only 180, but in any good misty you will be able to see that there is a lot more rotation then 180.

Finally, I wish people really didnt argue so much about tricks. Half of the people that argue are wrong. I wish that when tricks were named that they had been a little more vague, there would have been a lot more peace in the skiing community.

If you think differently about any of the descriptions I said here, say something, but for the most part I think that they are pretty good.

D-Spin brings up very good points. I think there should be ROdeo, Misty, Flat and cork. Thats all there really is. All the others (flare, underflip etc.) are just a different way of throwing one of those 4.

and d-spin, that would be a dspin 1080
a dspin7 is just a cork three into an off axis backflip (it helps to look at sequences of mike douglas doing the trick, then you will see what i mean)
with dspins it goes like this
dspin7, cork 3 into an off axis backflip
dspin9, cork 3 into a rodeo 5
dspin10, cork 3 into a rodeo 7 or a cork 7 into a backflip
and you're all gonna say 'well tanners d10 in happy dayz didnt look anthing like that', well tanner did a cork 10 that just went a little inverted so all the retards at freeze (which gets trick names wrong all the time) decided it was a dspin 1080

if k2 skipimp is right(witch i dont think he is) i can land D-spin 1260s and i know a kid that dcan land D-spin 1620s... but actully hes wrong and i can just land inverted cork 900s and Matt can land inverted cork 1260s

for the prime example of a d-spin watch tanners segment in front line. they show him doin a d7 in super slow-mo. and also mike douglas's first trick in his segement in frontline is a d-spin too, its also in somewhat slow-mo. i cant remember if its a 7 or 10.

my misty and rodeo definitions are right on
a misty 7 is just an off axis front full, and is a flip and a 360, the reason you call it a misty 7 is because it simply ends up looking like a 7.
if you have both tricks dialed on the tramp you will be able understand what i am saying, if you cant do the tricks you probably wont get it

i think it helps to remember that mike douglas invented the dspin7 when he was trying to do backfulls.
he just finished the 360 way early and then finished the flip

i just did a misty 7 on the tramp on accident. i was goin for an underflip and said shit lemme keep goin and i got the 720, and since i hucked it so terribly it wasnt even close to resembling a underflip. i think i understand the misty now. great.

rodeo - backwards shoulder role (open shoulders to the sky)
misty - forwards shoulder role (drop your shoulders to the ground)
cork - lean back and spin (skis should be downhill and head uphill)
d-spin - inverted cork
bio - lean forward and spin (opposite of cork - skis should be uphill and head downhill)
flare - backflip 180
barrani - frontlip 180
underflip - off axis flare, off axis lincoln opposite 180, super corked 540, whatever else you wanna call it
front, back and lincoln are self explanitory

there are many, many, many variations of every trick (most people think of a rodeo as a backwards rotation, but you can throw a rodeo forwards and have it still be a rodeo) those are the generalized ways of the basic flippy-spinny tricks out there, they are right.

personally i think we should just say fuck it for the majority of them and just go the way of snowboarding.

Its alot easyer to learn stuff by actully doing it, not reading it on a intenet site, so get your ass up and ski or tramp or to some diving boards cause u aint gonna be cool unless u memorize ever varation of every spin/flip!
