Alright, so I need to wipe my comp. cause it had sex with a lot of other comps and got some stds, so it needs to be rebooted and the whole chabang. The only problem is that I've never wiped a comp before, and i need to know how to do this. By the way, the comp I need to wipe is a sony vaio, runs microsoft, and I've tried anti-virus shit, so don't tell me to clean it or anything like that. So please for all you techies, help me with this shit.

Before doing this back up any important information. You will lose EVERYTHING.
Take your windows cd that came with your computer. Put it in the drive. Restart the computer. Hit F8, F12, or whatever button will bring up the boot options. Boot from the cd. Then there should be an option to reinstall windows. After selecting that you can either pick Repair Installation or New Installation. You'll want new installation. After that it'll say something about reformatting your drive and stuff and that is what you want to do. After that you'll reinstall windows and it'll start up. After windows is installed you'll need to find the Drivers disk that came with the computer. Put that in and it should autorun and install everything you need. If you do all this your computer will be as good as new.
The wording might be a little different but it's actually pretty self explanatory once you figure out how to boot from the CD.

Open up the case, and unscrew the hard drive. Take a good strong magnet and rub it all over the hard drive, I can guarantee that there will be nothing left on it.

Or instead of totaly destroying you HD you could just "zero" the whole thing.
But yeah like backfliptime said, you have to get into your bios(look for the instruction when you load) and make sure your boot sequence is set up so your primary boot sequence starts with CD drive rather than Floppy. Then save and exit bios and let the CD run and follow the instructions. Simple.
And don't forget to backup any files you want to keep.

that doesnt completly remove data. To completly whipe a hard drive you have to do two things. One install a harddrive code program. When activated it will scrambel the 1's and 0's so that they are un readable or just straight jiberish. Then after this has been done at least 3 times to decrease the chance of anyone being able to de-code the scrambel (computers dont think randomly, they have to follow code and algorythims to make desisions. In this case they use a sequence to "randomize" the 1's and 0's) then you take the hard drive out and use high powered magnets and run them over the harddrive front and back. Then repeat. After this has been done you hard drive is cleaner that NS after the mods have been on
