Its hard to tell for sure, obviously there was many underlaying issues but as far as I know they wanted to capture israeli soldiers so that they could be traded for Arab prisoners in Israeli jails. The rockets fired into Israel where just a distraction if you will for hezballah to cross the border and kidnapp soldiers.

Do you still need it explained? It could take awhile....

Look at it this way... they are an organisation (political party, actually) that lists the complete destruction of Israel in their goals. When they started to get funding and weapons from countries like Iran and Syria, and they were pissed at the Israelis, they started going missile on their asses.
Of course, it's a lot more complicated than that, but there's the gist of it. Yes, one COULD write a 1000 page essay on this, but let's not.

That's a pretty biased "summary". Their goal is not the destruction of Israel, but the disestablishment of zionism. I'm not trying to back up Hezbollah, but you really made Israel look like a saint with that description, and history shows they are far from saints.

also because israel occupied a vast amount of territory, which led to the creation of hezbollah, and after retreating, they still kept a certain area whose name escapes me.

If by destroying a terrorist organization includes killing hundreds of civilians in the surrounding Beruit area, crippling Lebanon's economy, and destroying most of the municipal achievments made in the last 10 years, then yes, I do consider it a mean thing to do.

Hezballah would crush any lebanese forces for one, and also you need to start looking at things from both sides, lebanon and israel both had huge civilian casualties

Seriously where can you draw the line on terrorism? Israel bombed the living shit outta Lebanon in areas that Hezbollah wasn't even known to operate or have any influence on.

Also Israel bombing and killing people of the united nations at a U.N. outpost who where inspecting the situation, how can they be confused with Hezballah?

Uhhh mistakes like that happen all the time. It's hard for a lot of people in America to agree with Israel's actions. But they are a nation sitting in a bee's nest. Every surrounding country to israel would jump at the chance to absolutely crush them. Israel needs to stay on the offensive to make sure they dont get royally fucked. Good for them for actually standing up for themselves and their citizens. We have groups of people kidnapped almost monthly and we dont do anything. Israel tells Lebannon to stop letting a terrorist organization use their country as a safe haven or they will take matters into their own hands, and that's what they did.

The isralis were captures on lebanese side of the border.
Be it navigation error or intended reason that ended them up there, they were arrested for a legitimate purpose.

Bahahaha.
First of all, I am not a liberal, so right there your argument is null and void. Second, learn how to spell, your incoherent attempt at an insult was pretty much worthless. Third, you show that you have no knowledge of any historic engagements between Lebanon and Israel. I bet you have never ever heard the story through the eyes of a Lebanese civilian.
So basically, grow up and learn some facts. You need to stop believing every television set you hear. I'm pretty sure 95% of this site would back me over you so I suggest you just kick your own ass and try to learn something from me. Not keep the ignorance aflame in your head and continue to ruin what remains of American society.

Exactly, this is why Israel is just as guilty as Lebanon.
Almost every major conflict that ever included Israel started with Israeli troops going over national boarders and trespassing into hostile territory. It's very very sad how misled kids on NS are.

Yes, it was written in a few seconds, but "disestablishment of zionism" is a cute way of saying killing every last Jew.
By the way Israel DID use a shameless "war strategy" that targeted some of Lebanon's crucial infrastructures, but they acted no different that the U.S would have if a random terrorist party started shooting hundreds of rockets at America from Mexico. Let's not forget that they fired those infrastructures because the Hezbollah were hiding there. Their actual position is debatable, but Israel has a fucking right to be paranoid; we have no idea what it feels like to live in a tiny country surrounded by hostile enemies.

Hezbollah uses "terrorism" and urban warfare because it worked REALLY WELL for the Jews about 50 years ago.
This was more of a well planned offensive than a terrorist plot, Hezbollah has been gathering arms for this conflict for years.
the arabs view the isrealis as the aggressors, by occupying the holy land they deny Islamic sovereignty in a region more important than just about anywhere else
the conflict is the same as it was the last 4 times
The jews took the holy land, and will not give it up
The arabs want the holy land, and will not stop fighting
Hezbollah is a political and social movement providng all the services of a government, not really "terrorists"

I don't even pretend to understand the situation in the mid-east, I just clicked on this thread to see who would say something along these lines first.

Yes facts ARE important, so why is it that your argument contains none? (Neither your 'statistic' about how this site supports you nor your broad reference to the history of Lebanese/Israeli conflict constitutes a fact).

THANK YOU!!!
the lebannese government had the power to stop this conflict but simply turned a blind eye!
Hezbollah is not a political party but rather a terrorist organization similar to that of Hammas whom is now leading the Palestinian government.
So in essence, Israel has to aggressive in the middle-east conflict because if they are not, they will be crushed by the dozens of terrorist organizations that are based in the countries surrounding Israel

Don't know if anybody said this, but hezzbollah and Israel have been exhanging missiles for over 20 years. Israel was finally pushed over the edge when hezzbollah captured 2 Israeli soldiers.
All times are Eastern (-5)
