i see it like if a freestyle motocross guy went to race in a supercross race, i think most people would support him-so kinda the same thing. shit i hope he shows up some of the full time racers

whoops, overusage of the word though. and i also dont think andy mahre gonna turn racer on us. he was probably just testing the skis for k2, i think i read that somewhere at the k2 site, that he and pep were testing non-twins at some camp or something

It's cool, he was really good when he was little I have been told. I wish I could afford to race for a couple of years, it would help my skiing so much.

Maybe he's doing this to get freestyle into the racing scene. You'll know what i mean when you see the next winter olympics downhill race, and he pulls a cork 7 and then wins the race JEA

he actually did it switch at a race in cali this spring. i heard it was dope, it was a race between him and cr and someone else i cant remember, but yeah needless to say he schooled 'em.
But anyway, i think its sick that he's decided to break up his park/backcountry skiing. it think hes def got a chill attitude about it saying that its only something else to do. plus its good techninque builder (not that he needs it or anything though). props to mahre for daring to be different!

You should all get out of the park and ski and that is what he is doing. Racing is great for your skiing. Your techniques and stuff transfer to riding park and big mountain as well.

maybe he will start racing without poles that would be sick but he sould stay in freestlye

he contradicts what he says
"The top 10 people always do the same run, there’s never a variety."
oh yeah, because the top 10 people in racing all do noticeably(sp) different runs anyways, infact, the whole set of racers does the same line

then he made the distinction between park and racing - park isn't a timed run,

i am not to sure how serious you are, but contrary to racing, park skiing has the possibility to have a lot of variety, especially different slopestyle & pipe runs wouldnt be that impossible, so its just more dissatisfying if there is no variety.

i had better say that this interview isn't my exact wording. or even close to it. yes im going to race......too. key word, too. Like someone said, they interview people to see what they are/have been doing. I was skiing on GS skis. They asked, so I told. Not trying to bring attention this way. It was mearly me doing what I want to do. If you want to criticize me for that, then go ahead. I won't criticize you for doing what you want to do. Just don't forget that I'm no carbon copy. I'm cutting a new trail, paving a new path, or working on things noone else has done yet. Pick one. I'm not saying noone has raced before. The proof to that is obvious. But where I want to take my ability involves me pushing myself at high speeds. I could just work on getting in that extra 180, or that extra flip. But where's the originality? Soon you'll have to do a triple flip to beat a double. I wan't no part of it. I just want to have fun.
Somewhere in the interview I talked about hundreds of people and yada yada. I meant it like...Take a slopestyle or pipe comp with a hundred competitors. The judges have to pick a winner based on their personal opinion. Put these same competitors in a race course, and there isn't an opinion of who won. Each person is timed from the same start to the same finish (obviously). Besides a few DNF's or DNS's you know where every single person ranked. To me, that's competition. One's ability tested against the next. Not one's ability judged agains the next. Because sadly, favorites do play a major role.
I shouldn't have to explain myself...no...I shouldn't explain myself. But it's a bit late for that. I appreciate every bit of support, and I'm fueled even more by those against me.
