Ps2 problem

i have a ps2 thats about 3 years old, i played a lot back in the day but stopped because sometings wrong with it. it will only play ps1 games or really old ps2 games. even my espn hockey from 05 doesnt work. when i put in the new game, it takes 2 minutes then says disc read error, i try for like 5865695738573 times but it still wont work, any help you guys can give, besides sending it in to sony?

put it in a dark place.

get a dvd lens cleaning kit. it worked for mine. it should just be a dvd that you put in and it has a little tiny brush on the bottom that cleans the lens

that happened to mine, but it was under the 2 year warrenty thing so they told me to send it back

It happened to me before, Has to be cleaned only,
it plays the older games because they are cd rom games
the newer games are dvd and too much info on the disc it cannot read it properly so it says disc read error.

im just gona clean it or get someone to clean it. if it doesnt work after that the fuck it. my friand has a 360 and gamecube so ill just play that when i want. thanks for the help tho

jea but it has some dope games like super smash bros melee and mario kart and its mad cheap, its the cost of a new ps2 game
