I was wondering about Big Sky's Terrain park, I've tried to look it up on the web but I haven't found much. I've never been there so if I could get some feedback about it that would be tight. Thanks
i havent been there but im thinking about going to msu for college next year so i've looked into big sky and found a few videos of the park, if you search big sky in videos i think some will come up, its nothing amazing but compaired to what im used to its nice
The park was pretty pathetic. there was a super-steep urban style setup with a downbox, downrail, and downrail with those lame little kinks at the end, then there was an uprail, a super burl flat down, and some wooden jib that looked lame. There was also a box on top of a quarterpipe. There was a single stepdown, with 2 takeoffs that felt way kicky. Then there was a halfpipe that wasn't completed and roped off.
The small park had 3 small jumps (10 feetish...) with trannys like quarterpipes. there was a cool up-down rail, and 2 small 12 foot boxes with trannys like quarterpipes. There was a wooden wallride, and some sort of rythm section with trannys likequarter pipes. then there was a 2 inch, 6 foot long flat rail with no takeoff that put you off a 5 foot drop into the trees.
That was all they had.
HOWEVER.... if you go to big sky for the park, I will find you and punch you in the eyeball. Big Sky is a dope mountain... I don't think I would really ride park at all if i lived there
^ thanks for the info, I'm going there this coming spring so I was just wondering what the park was like. I will most definitely ski the back-country all week then, build a kicker there : p
Their park is good if they want it to be. Unfortunately that never happened this year. All the park crew really does is hang around in the mini park and....well, sit around. If you're going to go to Big Sky just go ski the tram and Challenger, skiing park at Big Sky is almost as bad as going to Alta to ski their park.
Yeah, it was incredibly lame. But with how filled in the upper mountain was this year, you can hardly blame them. It's amusing when the park isn't up anyway because then I get to see all the montana "thugs" attempting to ski the mountain in a painful-to-the-eyes backseat gorilla sort of fashion. It's really quite amusing.
i guess i should say that im not much of a park skier- more into chutes and trees and whatnot. but i occasionally go through the small park and like it quite well. for someone who isnt a very good park skier, the small park here is pretty fun. i guess if your really into park, you might not be too impressed though.
yeah, i went to big sky two years ago and it was so nice, the bowls were amazing, so much powder, the BC is sick, take the tram up to the top its worth it!
Just to warn you in advance....Pant-saggers: if you come to Bridger or Big Sky and either get harassed or recieve a ski pole up your ass, it's probably from me. A good way to avoid this is to cover up your ass hole while skiing. I know, I know, it looks so damn hawt, but we don't take kindly to skinny white asses in these parts.
i rock out at big sky all year, and it is the cats pajamas if you know what i mean...the park is definately decent. and by the way...i sag my pants in montana and no one says shit, and if they did try to stick somethin up my azzool, i'd break their neck. jea
dont gbo there for the park. explore the mountain, theres so much cool shit there. so much hidden powder spots and sick places for BC BOOTERS. and the tram. thats worth the trip alone.
No one really cares^^^^he is just crapping you, he says that because iour home mountain never had a park, and therefore there was like no jibbers, all pow riders with full face helmets for the most part and your occasional one day a month skier. Things have changed there tho/ I'd rather have saggy pants then YUPPIES!
Haha, people take me way too seriously! I really don't care that much if you hang your pants off your ass, I think having a numb cornhole is punishment enough for that.
i've skied Big Sky for a couple years now and get up there about every weekend. it's hard to depend on the park. The mountain is amazing though. However, the word on the street is that Big Sky wants to able to hold the X-Games in a few years...so they're trying to beef up the terrain. Also, their neighbor...Moonlight Basin, added a terrainpark this year. You can ski both mountains for $70-$80 a day. That's over 5,300 Acres. The largest amount of terrain available on one ticket in the US. So check it out for sure...
its not too bad. they dont have much for jumps, but they do have a pretty tight park, way better then my mountain's. they have a superpipe, which is hella step, the transitions arnt long enough i think. but pretty fun.
Big Sky isn't known for the park they have, but when I went last year it wasn't bad, full pipe, couple big hits (60-ish ft.) wallride, handrails...you know the usual stuff, not as big as say Winter Park, CO with multiple parks and mini-parks, but it's a sick moutain, ride all over the place, you'll have fun. Montana rules.
I lived at Big Sky for 05-06 and if your going there for the park your going to be disapointed. They just got a new super pipe zugg last year and doint know how to use it. the park crew are nice guys and Pope trys to do what he can IF you snowboard! if and when you go stay out of the park and hit up the tram and i heard that moonlight baisn is having a park this year, thats on the back side of big sky. i think moonlight will have the better jibs!!!!!
have fun.. or do what i did fuck everything and move to mammoth..
WOW ur gonna love big sky man. Its awesome. But yea dont go to the park as much cuz it isnt like amazing..try to hit the tram and go down the gulleys and shoots. thats the best part.
