no, fed laws govern all. thats why the supreme court can ultimaltly strike things down....like segregation.

Yes you are wrong. If a pig wanted to charge you then they would apply the federal law on the banned substance.
The point of local legalization/decriminalization is that since it's so widely accepted within that community then the likely hood of the pig's bothering you with a criminal citation is much less, since it's no longer reflecting the view point of the community anymore.
Also, like mentioned earlier small steps towards a larger overall goal.

NY will be last, it has some of the hardest laws in the country because one of the rockafellers that was govener felt that all drugs were the worst thing for society, thats why ciggeret tax, alcohol tax, and punishment for possesion is so much worse then almost anywhere else

I am sorry, but what is so good about inhaling something that distorts your mind, kills brain cells, and increases the change of getting diseases?

what diseases do you think you all of a sudden become subjected to when you smoke marijuana? as for losing brian cells, i lose more spending time on ns than smoking. as for distorting your mind, you dont halocinate(sp), you just have a different aspect on things.
i'd say the worst part about smoking is the money. not on buying the weed, but on the food that you have to buy.

my dad thinks it should be legal, so if its ever to be voted for in montana he'll vote for it. He'll still say i cant do it, but alot less chance if i wanted/were to do it cause the cops would be outa the issue.

don't forget aids and hiv patients.
for the federal government to deny the fact that marijuana has medicinal properties is nuts, just like their entire drug policy... keep those prison doors revolving.

you know that is even one (1) unregistered voter signs all those petitions going around, the petition is automatically voided?
As for my view, I choose to take care of my body...whether or not it harms your body. I don't like the inhalation of anything that is on fire.

Good thread. I think I'm gonna get registered to vote. I'm gonna look into this friday on my day off.
As it is right now, in many parts of CO law enforcement looks the other way on small amounts of weed. I've experienced this several times.
And yeah, it will be a step in the right direction even though federal laws will still trump state laws. Perhaps and end to the marijuana prohibition is achievable in our lifetime.

so eat pot brownies, or pot pancakes, or any pot food, or use a vaporizer.
Or don't do it for other personal reasons. No worries.

Good on Colorado for finally doing this. I think that the real reason that we have "drug problems" is because they are ileegal. lots of kids smoke just to break the law, not just to be chill about it. Also, no matter how much weed you smoke, you cannot die, but you can die from beer pretty easily. Also, driving high is 100x easier than driving drunk. Once one state legalizes it, more will, then the government will relaize how much fucking money they can make if they just put taxes of pot sales.

just think about how much marital abuse occurs because of alcohol. i'm pretty sure no stoner's gonna go home and beat their kids, wife, etc. if alcohol is legal, so should pot.

Well personally, I won't be voting in favor of this measure. Flame me if you will though.
I'd vote for a criminalization of alcohol though. I agree with what someone said up there, only the other way around. If pot is illegal, so should alcohol. Remember, these are views expressed by me, and me alone. I'm only one person.

why would you want to take away something people enjoy? how you would feel if someone voted to not let you ski ever again
