I hate to do this, but i'm actually coming to NS to get a second opinion. I'm having a tough time deciding between the Prophet 100's or the 185 ARV's. I'm trying to push myself this year to do more big mountain and backcoutry riding but at the same time I want a ski that can perform decently in the park. Now I have my 1080's still so i'll use them on days that aren't fresh snow and mostly spent on groomers and in the park, but on the powder days i want a ski that can kill it in the deep stuff and then occasionally hit the park. Your thoughts?
hmm the seth would be a nice choice i think. or the arv out of those two the prophet would be great for all mountain but the arv would be better in the park i think
I haven't really played with either, but if you wanna push yourself to do big mtn get which ever one is stiffer cuz it'll be better for stompage in pow and would prolly be less fun in the park so you'd hit it like once a day and be like damn... I'm just gonna go huck some cliffs instead. If I had to guess I'd say prophet would be that ski ARVs look like they'd actually be really fun in the park.
I've skied both. I love the ARV's and the Prophets. But the 100's are stiff as hell.. they wouldn't be too great for park.. although they wouldn't be horrible.. you can forget buttering though. ARV's are pretty fun everywhere. Such a versitle ski.. and they really shine in soft fresh snow.
I'd have to say ARV's.
ps. I have a pair of 04-05 arv's 185s for sale.. unless you want new ones.. which are siick.
it all depends on what type of ski you like in the park, the prophet is deffinitely a better big mountain ski, and they are fairly light as well. if you don't mind a stiffer park ski and are serious about upping your big mountain abilities, go prophet 100s, if you want a really soft ski, that's fun in the park and soft snow, but is not going to be great in variable conditions off piste, go ARV, {though you won't have this problem if you are light or/and small}
