I need advice on where to get a pass this season. I'm at Syracuse University so both are about the same distance. I skiied at Togg last year occasionally and Lab once. I'm looking to ski mostly park but also just rip around the rest of the mountain occasionally. I want to focus a lot on jumps this season, but rails are also important. It seemed like togg had bigger jumps that weren't very well kept, but lab had a ton of rails and a few decent jumps. ALso wondering if either resort has any new plans for this year. I ask you members of NS for guidance on this important decision.
it seems to me like lab has been slipping lately while togg is accelerating. this year, togg is going to be sick. a lot more time is being put into pre season rail construction and there are a couple new people on park crew who should help maintain and create better features. I suggest you go to togg. Oh, plus the atmosphere is a lot more chill at togg.
there is also greek peak whick is about 20 mins further away and has a college pass deal for between 150-250 dollars. there parks has kept gettin better and better the last two years and it seams that this is the year that they figure stuff out. Im also and the park crew there and we do a good job keepin things nice.
haha greek peak. i got a pass there. greeks park has gotten better but is still small. but im hoping it will continue to get better but it is decent so i like to ski there
def gotta go lab. Tons of rails with upkept jumps. Laid back atmosphere and it doesnt get any cheaper. I think it was 160 for a seasons pass. Labs the place to be.
I've got a friend on park crew, one of the few who didn't move out west this year, and he said it should be good. Greek has been putting more and more money into their park, and is hiring full time park crew this year. There's gonna be a bunch of rail jams and whatnot as well.
there has been alot of chatter about what greek is doing this year. i heard from the managers son that they are flying in a coffin as i speak. also i heard that burgers in binghamton and cayuga ski and cycle in ithaca are sponsering having some raiks built. A rainbow and maybe a C. An also there are going to be rail jams every other friday night at greek, like the ones they had at the end of the year last year.
i somwhat disagree.. although togg is comming along, they still have ALOT of catching up to do
for instance, toggs rails are soooo shitty
labs rails are much better, and keep getting better as years progress... there have been some shitty rails in the past, but epics such as the A frame, flat down, pink rail, and all the boxes make it more diverse in that manner
also the tables at lab at times are very good (when there cut) and this is the tsame with togg, but at togg you find them making features that dont size up to the mountain,(IE 60-90 foot booters with short trannys and deadly landings we always seem to get in the ICE coast)
the pipe is always an issue also, toggs pipe was sooo shitty, the walls were just terrible, where you can catch day where the pipe is halfway decent at lab after they cut it ( good enjough to air out 6-10 feet with smooth trannys and still manage to land back in without decking like uncut pipes..
thats all i have to say
i dont think its even a question, lab has togg by a tonnn, not to mention the legnth the park has at lab compared to the legnth of toggs park
^ togg will be much better this season, and hopefully lab will too.. and i totally agree that the atmosphere is better at togg, but you manage to see many better skiers at lab compared to the skill levels at togg, not just on twintips but skiing in general
fair enough. toggs rails are getting better though. for the rail jam, nick constructed a f d f rail to perfection. we have a few realy nice flat rails, i am pretty sure we are ordering a couple of boxes so we dont have to deal with making them sick, and i think rails should greatly inporve this year. the problem last year was that the guys makng the rails ddnt ride and nick, who is the biggest influence, was at college usually, so the rails were never made the best way. regardless though, this years rails should be sick.
haha all I have to say is what a difference a few years makes...
Here's the info I can offer:
Park: Togg. It will get more attention this season than it ever has, it's gonna be sick. I'm really curious to see how Lab does with the new location, could be good, but they gotta put the time into it.
Trails: Greek. It's the biggest in the area, 'nuff said.
Trees: Greek, Togg, and Lab all have something to offer, you just have to know where to find the goods. You also need the snow to make them any good...
Events: Togg. All the events, especially terrain park events, will be done at an entirely new level this season. They'll be super affordable and super fun.
Price: You're a college student, so you can't beat Togg's deal. $15 for an all day pass any day of the week, or a season pass for $175.
The table is open for discussion on these points, but I'm pretty sure that just about sums it up.
Though it seems like it's gotten better in recent years, it's still lacking quite a bit. They do have some decent rails, I'll give 'em that, but they could be setup much better than they normally are. And as for jumps, they need some serious work. But their park can be fun to shred around, and the mountain itself is fun to shred around as well, you'll have a fun season.
