Opinions on the Encore for protection

I am considering getting the giro encore this year, downscaling from a full face or nine mx. Usually, things are cheap because they are cheaply made: is this the case with the Encore? If it costs almost half the price of the nine.9/G10, does it provide half the protection. I have had a few concussions with nice helmets, I am wondering if this helmet has what I need. Please don't respond with "yeah, I had it last year it was sick" or "dude, helmets only help so much, get what you like" yadda crap. I want people who have used it and compared it to higher end helmets. Thanks.

i can't help you from personal expirience, but one of my friends has it. he says it's a SOLID helmet, and he's taken some hard falls on it. he loves it. i think giro is a solid company.

well any helmet that is made and sold has to pass certain tests and whatnot to be safe enough, the concussions you got were problem just from hitting your head in just the right spot which no helmet could really, I've always used giros for biking and skiing and the quality in all their stuff, cheap and expensive, is all pretty impressive. they've also been making helmets for a quite a while so they know what they're doing, i'd say it's a good choice.

The main difference is the construction.
Nine uses inmold construction
Encore(So does the Bad LT) uses high impact abs shell and an eps liner
10(fure similar also) uses a combo of both, eps inmold liner.
It's all on constructiion. Nine uses one half of the technology, encore uses other, fuse and 10 bring both together and cause the price change.
