Anyone else have this problem with cops

since i recently bought a 98 neon, i've got pulled over 5 times. i bought it at the end of june. the stupid thing is, its mostly for bullshit reasons just because there are 4 or 5 of us in the car. the first time i got pulled over it was for speeding, that was legit. however the second time, i supposivily ran a red light. so he asks to search the whole car blah blah, no ticket issued. the next time i got pulled over was real bullshit. we were on the way home from mcreek's water park and the cop had some guy pulled over but he was walking back to his car. he just eyed us. not 20 seconds later he pulled us over. he says he smelled weed so he pulls me out, searches me. when he goes to pull everyone else out, i say "sir, i don't want to be an asshole but why did you pull me over?" he said and i quote "inadequate muffler" i was lost for words. so he searched everyone one by one then starts going through the car. we weren't allowed to talk or anything. then he goes in to my trunk. goes through all the clothes. he claims he found shake but go have a nice night.
then i got pulled over for improper lane switch, that was legit but he asked 3 billion questions that had no purpose.
then last night, me and my brother went to this car show after i got out of work at 9. its this illegal car show thats sick but now cops sort of patrol it. so when we pull out we passed a parked cop. a minute later, woot woot, he pulled us over. this time it was for the license plate light out. you got to be joking me
thank god, none of the times were times when we had bud. sorry that was kind of long and things might be spelled wrong

ya man this use to happen to me all the time but now i live in no where land and know all the cops and all the cops know my family and wont fuck with us cause we can make them lose their job lol.

Not with the cops because the cops rarely come here. But more with other people. Like this one time me and my friend were walking around and we stopped at the factory parkinglot because we saw a car. It was kinda strange because it was about midnight. So we watched as the car did doughnuts. A VOLUNTEER firefighter pulls up and says what are you boys doing? Me never having confronted state authority before and not knowing it was a volunteer firefighter paniced and said just trying to keep the neighborhood safe which was the stupidest thing EVER to say. Then we explained what we were doing and he left not ever confronting the car. About 30 seconds later my friend hit me, called me and asshole and told me that it was a volunteer and he cant do shit to us. Mind you Ive had more encounters with police and handled it better.

thats really weird, I mean is a neon really that suspicious? Sure its kinda crappy but I don't see a reason. Maybe you look suspicious, i have no idea. I used to drive an 84 volvo but i never got pulled over for stuff like that and my car probably had stuff like that wrong with it

My friends had the opposite happen. They were going about 60 on a 30 and tried to outrun the cops and ducked into a neighborhood when they were out of site. The cop knew exactly what they were doing and pulled them over in the neighborhood and told them that the cops liked them so he would write down that he pulled them over cause their liscense plate light was out.

there all cheap reasons but he can say w/e he wants like for instance a cop can pull u over for going 82 in an 80 zone but he ussually doesnt, and wih 4 teenagers ure just asking for it, like i was docked at a raft on my boat with 2 buddies and the cops came and gave us shit for not having our licence with us and all this bull shit and we were tied down to a fuckin raft

well sounds like cops in your area have your car pegged. so just be sure never to have shit that can get you into trouble in your car. then while yes it may be an inconvinience you arent going to get into trouble also ask the cop for his badge number every time they pull you over, but dont be cocky or an asshole about it. just the fact that you are asking for their badge number in a polite way is going to make them think twice about jerking you around again. Number one just dont be disrespectful to them, it will piss them off to no end

depending on the circumstances you dont have to consent to a search. for example if nothing is exposed and they cant smell anything

ouch that sucks. cops are dicks, a couple months ag I was driving down a state highway, and yes i was speeding and all but the cop that pulls me over was driving the other direction on the highway at 60mph and flips a bitch at full speed to catch up with me and pull me over to give a 6 point, $140 ticket.

If you ask politely for a badge number like somebody else already said, they wont give you any more unnecessary shit. It makes them realize that you hve the intent to do something about if your getting pulled over for bullshit. Also, let them search. If you dont have anything it will come up empty and they have nothing more agaist you. If you refuse a search, they will find a way to search your car, get a warrant, hunt your ass down, whatever they feel like doing.

im pretty sure cops are only allowed to pull you over if your going 4 miles an hour over the speed limit due to speedgages that can be off or somthing, thats what caleb.'s mom said at aleast.
and you can refuse the search.
to the girl up in the thread so it makes them more suspecious and then they can make you let them search the car and then they can feellike complete idoits adn find nothing.

no i don't have blue hair, i'm not a gothic. i have black hair and wear polo's but my area is a lot of drug dealing with the teenagers so when they see us driving, they think they've struck a gold mine. if i have nothing on me, (thank God) i think to myself, why not just let him search the car? why try to get smart with him if hes just wasting his time? i did get tight when he went in trunk but whoopdeedoooooo, there was nothing in there besides wet clothes from mcreek.
my car smells heavily of weed due to the fact we always hot box but i've got used to the smell cause i have air freshners but every once in a while a new comer into my car will smell it haha. i'm just happy none of us ever have shit when they pull us over.
they do need a warrant to search the trunk but not to search the car. i think smelling is probable

a friend of myne got pulled over 3 miles out side of town lines by a town cop once and had a list of tickets that went all the way back into town(the cop had been following him) then when he got pulled over the cop went though everything because the 2 airfresheners on his rear view made him suspect hevy drug use, he didnt find anything all charges were droped and it ended up screwing the cop over for pulling him over outside of town lines

here's a true story to do with town lines. it was 3 am and we were on our way home from the nyc. we were going up the westside highway going towards the gwb. there was a sign saying speed checked my radar so my boy slows down a little cause its like a 45? we were going like 75. we pass a cop and his radar detector went crazy. so my boy just gunned it. i was like your a retart but hes like no we're almost in nj. so we go across the bridge and the cop gets on our tail right before the end of the tunnel if you take lower. he put on his sirens so my boy took the exit for the palisades acting like he was pulling over but thats jersey. i don't know if there;s a sign saying welcome to jersey but the cop jammed his breaks and pulled off to the side and we were out. true story. you want an adreline rush? and we were in a f150. not to sound like a redneck but you should of heard it in the tunnel. damnnnnn

Most cops are dicks just cause they have some power, so they use it wrongly...first of all, know your rights...they can't search the trunk, or a locked glovebox...so if you ever DO have shit with you, toss it in there and lock that shit up, they have to impound it to search it, and in most cases, around here at least, it's not worth the hassle and the paperwork for them to do it. And yes, ask for a badge number, don't be a super asshole or anything, but give it a mild tone, a tone that says "if you guys don't stop fucking with me for bullshit reasons, I WILL call your ranking officers about it". And get that little shit like license plate lights fixed, then they won't be able to use that as a reason to pull you over. And lastly, get a radar detector, one of the good ones, it'll save you from being surprised and speeding past a cop or something like that.
