So freshman year is fast aproaching and that means that winter is not to far away, which means two things, basketball and skiing. This year im not really excited for basketball. Ive been playing since 4th grade and last year it was starting to lose its fun and get really boring. This year I can either suck it up and play or if I dont play, I will be able to get a job and go skiing ALOT more(I only got 5 days in last year). Im not sure what to do. Has anyone out there given up a sport for skiing and really regretted it afterwards? I know im the only one who can make this decision but I wanna hear some input.

I gave up basketball for skiing after my 9th grade. At first, I missed the competition that basketball offered, so I started competing more and more in skiing. I still play rec ball, and it's a lot of fun, but skiing is my serious sport. I don't regret it, but I'm glad I can play basketball in the summer.

If your not that excited about basketball, dont do it. Skiing is something you can change, it always stays interesting. Get bored with one thing move onto another whereas basketball is the same thing over and over. Unless of course you MAKE it interesting...

im sure uve heard many stories like mine but here is what i have to say...
i was in a similar situation last winter. i play hockey and as a freshman i made the varsity team and started as goalie. i also enjoyed skiing a lot and every chance i had i would go. As my hockey season came to an end, i looked back at the winter season and really was disapointed i spent more time thinking about skiing and doing backyard jibs with friends. dont get me wrong i love skiing and wont give it up untl my back tells me too, but i believe if basketball is important to you i think u should stick with it. I always tell myself that i can ski before and after hockey season but during hockey season, hockey is more important to me and i dont feel like going hardcore in the park then brake a leg and be out for the season. Do what u want, dont let someone influence you. Also its fun to hang with the upper classmen and chill with them. so lastly if u really want another opinion i would say stick with it, but if its not important to you dont feel obligated to play.

you could always not play this year and just go back next year if you missed it. you may be a little behind everyone else but you can catch up
