whats so great about having a soft boot and what are they good for... like people say you should get a soft boot for park but if you want to do butters and shit a stiff boot would be better cause all the pressure would be going into the ski and not the boot (quoting tanakaskier) haha... but yeah what are some advantages and disadvantages of having a soft or stiff boot

if you do a lot of butters with a stiff boot, you get one hell of a shin bang. i used to have stiff boots and after a day of park, or pow, or buttering to much, my shins would hurt like hell. soft boots are a gift from god

i like my stiff boots. I use to race so anything but a race stock boot feels soft to me. There are days when the shin bang in unbarable tho

i don't feel like i have any control with soft boots. i feel like every movement i make just gets absorbed. with a stiff boot, every movement gets directed straight to the ski. much more efficient way of skiing.

yea i think super soft boots like park specific ones would be nice to ride in the park all day, but any where else even my 1080 promodels could stand to be a little stiffer for control. stiff boots are definately super harsh for shin bang though like if you land backseat they aren't as forgiving as soft boots. overall i dig my 1080s though, i think their flex index is like 65 or 70 or something.
