Last season I was around 175 pounds not fat or real muscular I was just kinda average this season cause of football I packed on 30 pounds none of it is fat though im only like 10 percent bodyfat do you think being thiry pounds heavier will afect my skiing? like balance wise?
well, if its mucle no, because mucles cary thier own weight, but if you had one to many klondike bars, yea, cause your mucles will have more weight to shift around. more mucle is good for balance, good for falls, and increaced athleticisim = better skiing not matter what
stronger is usually better, if you get to much mussle mass on you will end up like my bro who got huge for football and his knees started to shit out on him when he rode so he gave up skiing...
Um, not its not all leg. Most of all it is core strenght. Your abs, obliques, back are what control balance, and support leg movement. With out a strong core your legs wont do what you want them to do. In shot, yes it will help. The better general condition your body is the better platform to learn to ski.
here is how it goes. i am having alot of pain in my knees when i ski so i go the doctor. afte a year of visits he sends me to this other guy who figures out that my knees are hurting cuz my shoulder got thrown off a while back and my back was being pulled on in a funny way which shifted my hips and in turn pronated my arches which put stress on my knees. also i wasn't able to buid up the same muscle mass that i would otherwise. a month of intense lifting with a trainer twice a week and a few chiropractor visits and i am pretty much back to normal. however a month later i was way strong. the point of my story is that i started going like 10 ft higher out of the pipe (literally) and i started doing way harder tricks. so yeah it does help
Dude, unless you were buying thousands of dollars in bodybuilding supplements, I find it hard to believe you gained 30 pounds of muscle in 1 year. Some pro bodybuilders would be stoked with only a 10lb increase.
Yeah, thats because bodybuilders are already big, he colud have been a marshmellow befor. 30 is not impossible, maybe combined with general body growth?
I took creatine and I eat a lot of protein I have a good diet and good training program my legs are stronger then my upper body and whoever said football is all about upper body is an idiot its all back and legs my legs are pretty strong I can parallel squat 405
i gained 40ish pounds in just my junior year in high school, probably due to height tho. i went from about 5'4" to 6'1"
but yea, core muscles are really important. think about how many times you are popping up your legs or throwing spins or w/e. constant stress on your abs and back muscles. bombing huge mtns takes gnarly quads tho.
I grew 6 inches and lost 5 lbs in a year and the doctor told me that's really unhealthy so she told me to gain 30 lbs even though I weigh 140 lbs. and I'm 5'8".
ok people, let's not confuse the normal increase in body weight from natural metabolic growth with weight gain as a result of increased muscle mass from weight lifting. They're two completely different things. Sheeit, if that was the case I can say that I gained about 100lbs of muscle in 3 years when I was in my early teens.
205lbs....thats gonna affect your skiing hardcore. less agile, your skis wont be able to handle your weight either. a ski other than a super solid/stiff pow ski is prolly the only one that wont give out on you if your skiing hard.
it'll def change your skiing. when i was 160 lbs, i could boost 10 feet out of a pipe easily. I'm about 190 lbs now, and i can very rarely boost 10 feet. But the extra mass made it so i can haul through BC lines in sketchy snow conditions a lot easier than a couple years ago. If you look at the pros, park skiers are generally smaller and big mountain guys and racers are generally bigger. But muscle is always good.
you definitely didnt gain 30 pounds of muscle, cause if you did, may i ask what steroids you used, because that is higly unlikely that you gained thirty punds of pure muscle.
