for the people that are saying NS has gone to shit or whatever you claim, it's not the site that's gone to shit, in fact, the site right now is more full of content that it ever has been. we now have a handful of industry sponsors. we have members from ever corner of the globe. we have contests, festivals, hockey pools, games.. and the list goes on.
it isn't the site that has gone downhill, it's the contribution of certain members to the message board. so, for all those that love to complain so much and reminisce about the good ol days, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. tell those that contribute negatively just exactly how they adversely affect the site. nobody will stop unless there is pressure to do so.
next time you feel the need to complain about the direction NS is headed (i myself don't feel that it is headed in the wrong direction, but that's an aside), take your criticism and do something constructive with it.

I read through the articles and shit that The newschoolers team post regulary and find it useful! its stupid one line flamers that cause people to get pissed of at the site!!
What keeps this site going (along with harveys excelent work) is what and how the people that use the site treat it and each other! Its really folk like you that bring the site down and give it a bad name. Just coz you got a shitload of posts dont mean that you run this joint. I maybe just a 'newbie' with 100 and something posts but does that make a slight bit of difference? i just post when i feel the need. Ive read the threads against you Supilot....

ha......your all kidding yourselves. this is an internet forum. i remember when i first got on and it was more of a friendly place, but more and more people found out about the untapped resource harvey gave us, which in turn led to the 2002-2003 newbie revolution. you all need to chill cause the site is fine. what do you expect for shit sake????....its an online site...of course there are going to be dicks like me that become members. start charging people then....thats your only option. crying about it wont solve anything and aside from the fact that you may not like me i contribute more to the site than most even though i do digress once into twat kicking bitchslapping mode cause you get fed up with all of the retards. stop crying. the site is fine or as fine as can be expected given the context.

but see why we say we miss the good old days on ns is because we never had the problems we have now with people who come on the site and ruin forums. half the threads up on the forums have been done before a few times and it get old. we didn't have shit talking 12 yearolds. we didn't have girls claiming that they are the best girl jibber and blasting every other girl on the site. now we could never message every person that is taking away from the site, its not worth the time. maybe people should just relize that this site was made to chill and bs about skiing and shit. now its a comp for the most posts, best vid/pics, and who has the best set up. Who gives a fuck. why can't skiing be about friends and a good time anymore?

i don't know what the good ole days are, but i do know a thing or two about the site...
yes, there are a lot of shit talkers, whos mission it is to anger people, but that can't get ahead of the fact that there is still a large community of helpful and caring people. And witht he repetive posts, that just needs to be fixed, there is a search function, and noobs need to start using it...if it doesn't load, just it refresh. It works for me..
oh and the media section, why do u watch a trick called 'small 360' then complain about their skill and say that they wasted your time. 75% of the people that post videos there, i guarantee post so they can receive constructive critiscim and good comments, they want to see what people think of there progress...no one posts so they can be told they suck

nothing we do can bring back the good old days where we could have an actually intelligent debate about good things... even if noone writes stupid shit there's just too many people. i have excepted this and changed my posting ways accordingly. now i'm just throwing a bunch of questions out there to make people think about how they are living their lives and weather it's good or bad. because as i said to my dad today 'what's the point of life if you arn't happy the majority of the time. working a job or carear that you hate day in and day out will do more harm to you than any money you can make doing it can fix. Life shouldn't be based on how big your house is or what kind of car you drive when you retired - it should be based on the stories you have (i believe someone has already said this on the forum)

most of you people on here have not been part of ns.com long enough to realise the lifecycle. easch new skiseason brings a ray of hope for the site, thousands of new members join, ski talk is amazing and the bitching is kept to a minimum. as the ski season comes to a end people begin to become restless and every year somone brings up the notion than ns.com is comming to a end. every summer we somehow manage to make it through the summer without ripping eachouthers heads off and come october/november the fourms settle into skiing again and people chill out. dont panic. ns.com will be just fine.

the thing is as the site and sport grows, you get all the crap that comes with it, i remember when their were some half decent debates on this site and when people where chill, it stayed like that for a couple of months then i started noticing people becoming annoying and this board becoming just another place where people bitched. Im sure the site was even more chill before i signed up. Whats the solution to the problem. create another underground site and try to keep it to the few people who really know what the site should be.

I think its the nostagic member who have changed and not the site. We've matured, and interacting with people on the internet, though a computer just isn't fun anymore. But the site still has its uses I'll admit that. And there are more idiots on here, but there are also more 'good' members.

people get mad at newbies cause they usually post one liners that only take up space and are not worth reading. its like they post just to get posts, hence the term whore? there should be different stages in the forums based on posts. most one liners will die out because they will get sick of whoring while others will rack up posts and actually come to NS because they want to in hopes of actually discussing something meaningful or to get info or whatever.....

there hasn't been a good old fasioned freeze forum outcasting for a while for me... it's been a while since i've even bothered to venture to the freeze forum. now those are the true good old days. pre-newschoolers... i've been a ski forum junky for far too long.
I came into the shit when the freeze forum was at it's prime and the poorboyz forum was going strong... frz was a major player, and than there was that yahoo website thing... quite an odd site full of crazy odd people like gene, dave, will, and some others (i think gerrett might have been on there at one point?)... i don't know that's going back too many years to remember exactly though.
I can tell you this much though - compaired to 5 or 6 years ago (or has it been more?) the online skiing community is closer than it will ever be as long as NS and Matt keeps it up. NS will never die, it will never turn into the freeze forum and it will always be the best way to waste the 8 month off season in Ontario.
and as for the comment z_boarder dude said - there may be a few who come and go - but I am here to stay. On NS every chance I get (i know i wasn't on all winter... but i do actually have a life... just on here when i got nothing better to do). On that note - i have graced the forums of NS for the month of April, but in two weeks time I must leave you again for most of the summer... but I WILL be back in August. I know you'll miss me... everyone always does.
