Without a dought one of the biggest let downs in ski comps last year was the slopestlye at X turning into a best trick comp. You guys got the money and the People. I don't want some BS flat course. Give the skiers the good shit to show case their skills on. X-games predictions anyone? Does anyone know who fucked up that course last year?
Yeah, not enough problems that shaun white could do 3 1080s and a 900 all in his run. You are seriously a dumb piece of shit. The weather was fucking horrible, it snowed like 5 inches or something, and it was warm. And admiting is the first step to healing.
thats really funny if you ask me, how hard can it be to clear a money booter thats 40 feet long? if you ask me, they coulda just hit the rail line instead of any jumps and then tucked into the money booter to complete a slopestyle course. that solves the speed issue and hitting 5 rails and 1 jump is better than only 1 jump where it goes to a sw 1080 fest over a 40ft jump
But if you ask the announcers at the x-games, it's "INSANE! THE CRAZIEST THING GOING ON! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!!"
Anyways, they should definitly take fucking moto-x best trick out of the winter x-games. Alright we get it, you like to suck on moto-x dick, now take it out it doesn't belong in the mother fucking winter games.
listen kid, next time you're in your local park with 5+ inches of new snow....you try doing....anything switch and I'll give you some props. It's true also, it is August and you're complaining about it....now!?!? Why not use that ginormous search bar and find the hundreds of threads about the Best Trick comp that skiers had in the X-Games ok?
As for the course design, well....it's made for TV. It has to be fast (like time wise, can't be a super long run), and plus they don't make separate courses for the women (which I think would be beneficial). A lot of the women snowboarders got hurt this past X-Games because they came up short on a jump....if there was a 60ft money booter, do you think that would increase or decrease the chances of them getting hurt?
Bottom Line: The X-Games is made for TV. It will always be spin to win. It will never be about style. The winner always has to have a backstory, and if they don't.....ESPN will make one up. Always.
ya the big air was bs x-games justs gets hard on moto-x and in 2 years lets just hope skiing doesn't end up like rollerblading, flatland bmx, xtreme rock climbing, wakeboarding, downhill mountain biking, and many other sick sports that x-games got rid of because of moto-x's countless back flips I'd rather see a hundred switch 10s each with a different style, on skis like last year than, the hundreds of backflips that seem to be the only trick dirt bikers can do any more but props to t-pastrana for the dub back that was dope
no, the event organizers did not want to reschedule it so big air was the only option. moto x on snow was more important to ESPN. the athletes were not happy about it.
True. However, look at Pastrana. He's been at the top of motox for a while now, he hasn't had any sort of prior injury, he's never been to rehab, no one in his family is ailing...just things like that ya know. I always just wonder if the producers told him, and his mom to be really really emotional and junk like that. I know it's a crapshot, but it's just stuff I wonder about.
Which is why I was so surprised that Laurent Favre took 2nd in pipe this year. ESPN aired the crap out of Tanner & Simon competing after coming back from injuries. I mean, no doubt....those guys are seriously seriously talented....but Favre has no backstory that ESPN could have milked...you can tell when ESPN wants to "sell" someone to an audience. They have a general audience in mind when they air the X-Games, they have to sell the athlete to the audience for them to understand/appreciate them. For instance, when Peter O got second in Slopestyle in 2004. The general audience has never heard of him, therefore they aired interviews and family history promos for him. ESPN, before the X-Games, does interviews with every athlete invited and for the ones that are doing well...they air the interview so the audience "knows" the rider.
That's my two cents at least. Like I said, could be a crapshot.
My God, right there I just stopped reading because that is so incredibly untrue. Wow... just wow... He's been injured sooooo much more than you can even begin to think. At one point he was out for a full year because he broke a bone in each wrist that takes 6 months to heal each. He's had countless surgeries on his knees (basically everything you could destroy in your knees, he has), concussions, broken bones, shoulder injuries... it goes on man. Why do you think he picked up ralley racing and layed off the super-x and freestyle? That's right because of injuries. Ralley racing is a fun way for him to slowly get back into moto-x and all it's aspects. Truth be told, Pastrana is one of the most punished athletes in any sport and I personally have no idea how much longer he's going to last. What I can say is that he still dominates freestyle even though he's not even in it at 100 percent and that's damned amazing. All that emotion between him and his parents, that was real. This was the only trick Travis was not psyched about attempting. Him and everyone else close to him knew that this could end up with him in the hospital, wheelchair or even a coffin. When he first attempted the double it was on a stepup, not a double jump. Even on the stepup he was very scared, bailing numerous times after the first rotation. The double backflip should not have been done as clean as it was, and everyone who knows what's going on knows that including Pastrana. The double backflip may never be done again, because the risk factor is just incredibly high and that is some emotion right there man. He actually told his mother that he loved her before he went out to try it. You may not think he's all that great because of all the hype x-games puts on him, but truth be told he's not a super hero, he's human and he can break but the determination and skill he has is only found in a very, very, very few people.
God that fucking pisses me off. ESPN WOOT MOTOX BACK FLIPS SOOO EXTREME. Fuck that. They really should take moto x out of winterX and show more skiing or something.
ya you are so right like he was going to do the double backflip lastyear
but he injured himself before(massive swollen bruise on his head) so unfortunatley he couldnt compete.
for all that are blaming it on the weather you are kinda wrong, i skied that course when it was nice and groomed and i had a hard time clearing the jumps in the mid section. i def think it could use some more ummfffh.
i thought the most boring part is how every one went for like the same trick besides derick spong how did cab 9 but i would rather have seen bibbys sreamin seamin
first lets get some facts straight. I think we can all agree on the fact that the skiers were not happy in the switch in format and that the espn/x-games people screwed them. The amazing part is, the question in this thread was answered by no one. only bitching. Who designed and set up that course?
