im in turkey right now and i just woke up and looked at the newspaper. i flipped thru some boring pages. and i came across and article rather offending. im sure all of u have seen anti- bush t shirts. but this article is about a t shirt that compares bush to adolf hitler. the shirt says BUSH only the S is replaced with the nazi symbol. the swatstika. i know that our pres has done many wrong things but comparing him with hitler is in my opinion stepping way over the line. i was also at the same time sad. because pur president is supposed to represent us. and if the world thinks bush is like hitler what are they going to think about american ppl as a whole? i cant read turkish very well so if any of u research this and find flaws in this thread i aplogize. wuts ur guyz outtake on this?

It is so insulting and wrong to call Bush a nazi... it's demeaning to the people who fought them and died under them... It's an insult which shows that the person knows nothing or chooses to forget everything about what the nazis did to associate Bush with an evil that is SO far beyond anything he has ever, can ever, and indeed will ever do.

Not to mention the fact that the Nazis were a Fascist government. That word is so fucking overused and inefficent thanks to people like FuckThePolice calling everything Fascist and the such.
Seriously, the world is becoming so incredibly blind to the US it's not even funny. I am so sick of being generalized and intellectualy stereotyped because I live in the US. Oh well, I guess there's always got to be a country to pick on to make it look like your country is perfect.

im less than 2 weeks away from doing exactly that
hitler and bush had pretty similar ideas save for the FINAL SOLUTION
Hitler and bush both sought to raise a country from economic ruin by aquiring new sources of wealth in a less-than-neighborly fashion.
they both succeded in this fairly well, boosting consumption and having greater access to very neccesary resources, as well as having (for a while at least) fanatical support and strong belief in leaderships ability to stay the course of improvement.
at this point hitler started taking jews money alot more aggresivly and started building "work camps" so the similarity pretty much stops there.

Pretty similar ideas?
World domination, financial well-being. Yeah I totally see the similar ideas there.
Stop trying to sift through the sand grains and find the samllest resemblence. It's not there. They don't have similar ideas.
Economic ruin? Uh hey wait DOT COM ERA? Economic ruin...are you mad? When Clinton was in office we were having the only bull market we've had in a long time.

The word is over used. But take a close look at the patriot act...
"Fascism is a radical totalitarian political philosophy that combines elements of corporatism, authoritarianism, extreme nationalism, militarism, anti-anarchism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism."
I think it hits a few (not all) of those.

Not quite, Fascism in itself is...
"a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"
I don't know where you got that explination of fascism, but it's slightly off. Fascism requires a TOTALITARIAN government ie. dictatorship. Thus, nothing can be even thought to compare with the US government.

At the time of his leadership (before he got all into his ethnic-cleansing ideas), Hitler was supported like MAD. In 50 years, I can easily see Bush being compared to Hitler, once he's out of power and people start to ask more questions about his ideas and such. It's not the right time to compare them now, because no one's exactly sure how crazy Bush really is. Give it time though. In history, I reckon this will be a very very important time to reflect on, and we will all be asking ourselves questions of why we allowed this to happen, with the same criticism (well, to a much lesser extent) as we look at the nazis with.

I'm sure you have part of it correct; but to say that people reading about Bush in history books next in a chapter on the holocaust, Stalin's genocide, etc is nuts, I highly doubt that'll happen.

Uh, I'm not sure if you have looked at the latest polls on Bush, but we don't suppourt him and I guarentee in 50 years all that will be said is "wow he sucked as president". Seriously, there is no way anyone could even think to criticize Bush for anything near what Hitler did.
Comparing Bush and Hitler is just trying to say that America is evil. Carrots and Watermelons...

I didn't mean to the same extent, but I'd be extremely suprised if my children didn't read about Bush in school and think "What the fuck? They elected that guy twice? and no one stopped him from doing things that the general public didn't even support??! Wack steeze, bro. And they thought they were living in democracy! ha!"

your an idiot
i read your post and cant really figure out how your disagreeing with me.
they both wanted financial well being and a large portion of the world under their INFLUENCE (the united states is ALL about INFLUENCE)
Bush came into office after the dot com boom had ended. the "dot com era" was an artificially inflated market because investors kept investing in companies WITH NO PRODUCT OR MEANS TO START PRODUCING A PRODUCT. if thats what you call a strong market, well then your a moron. (its actually refered to as the "Dot Com Bust")
you can compare ANYONE TO ANYONE, and you cannot deny that Bush has far more in common with Hitler than he does with Ghandi.
FINAL SOLUTION ASIDE
---they both wanted a stronger economy, and some serious world influence---
THIS IS MY ONLY STATMENT DO NOT TRY TO REFUTE SOMETHING ELSE

Yeah buddy, I'm an idiot.
The dot com era was indeed the best market we have seen in a while. Yes, it failed because of nonexponentiol growth, but at the time it was strong. Hitler wanted CONTROL. I'm failing to see where Bush wants the whole world under his influence...I see Iraq and Afghanistan. For Hitler, Hmmm Russia, France, Poland, England, Europe in General, Northern Africa, Italy, Egypt, ETC.
There's just a slight difference there. I say it again, there is no comparing them. Two totally different political stances, two totally different governments, and two totally different time periods.
"---they both wanted a stronger economy, and some serious world influence--- "
So, what president doesn't want that? I mean to that statement Ronald Reagen is comparable to Hitler.

Um, final solution aside, wanting a stronger economy is not a bad thing in and of itself, and wanting world influence is what most countries like...
So really, if you take aside the thing that makes the two people completely not alike then i guess yeah, they are exactly the same and should be treated as such.
If you take a nuke, but um, take away the fuel, and the detonator, and the payload, then you can compare the nuke as being as harmless as a puppy...

When in doubt, pull the most cliché ad hominem you can: all americans, if they disagree with you, are the spoonfed retards who can't form an opinion. If you can use that successfully, you will have proven yourself unquestionably right because the american is obviously too stupid to call you out on that most fallacious of logics.

no worries; I'm just particularly cynical at the moment, for reasons not brought on by ns. My dad and I just had a wicked talk on how politics have changed in the last twenty years and I'm just baffled and questioning everything at the moment.

Just because people voted for George Bush doesn't make them a scumbag.
The entire democratic system in America (well, most places) is completely fucked... Seriously, what alternative does a forward thinking american have when it comes to election time? At least George Bush has charisma and is a good leader (although I disagree with nearly every decision he's made in office), at least he is a spokesperson, good for PR if nothing else...
There's not really any suitable presidential alternative for America... It seems they are unable to find a single person in politics that's doesn't seem like a mockery of the system...
One can't blame the voters, it's the whole system that's messed. It's completely unfair to make accusations about who voters are based on who they elected. They merely pick the best of what's offered to them.
