i dont know why all you kids are so stoked on utah, yeah the skiing's pretty good, but there's other places with skiing just as good and its not in mormon ass utah with its 3.2% beer, scary police, and in a desert
i dont fucking care if you dont like me, most of the kids on this site are little pussies anyway. and for the person who talked about tahoe hurting, yeah, this winter it did rain in december, but i was hitting 80 footers in may (long after utah closed down) and mammoth stayed open till the 4th of july. and the year before last tahoe's season started a month earlier too.
thats not the reason i didnt go to utah. the reason i didnt go their is b/c i think CU will be way sicker. Better party atmosphere, better college, no mormons. the skiing is the only down side.
Utahs season is usually pretty long with hiking starting in Late Oct. or early Nov and going in to late May early June...the resorts open and close becuase of land permit dates...except for snowbird which was open until memorial day this year...which was an early closing for them...they have sometimes stayed open until the 4th of july...mammoths park would probably be better later in the season than in Utah though...anyway...there's a reason why more shots of utah are in mags than almost any other state or place...even after film crews and "industry folks" call it played out recently it still got published and it still will...it's just too good not to...2 cents there for ya
All I know is that I'm going from Mt brighton, Michigan to Park City, Utah. It would be retarded of me to pick apart little things between CO and Utah, they're both spectacular. And for anyone else talking shit just think about people like myself who for years have had nothing to ski but the 230' hill shown in the beginning of Aspen Extreme.
yeah i have heard this repeatedly about utah. I also found today that you cant just go into a bar and expect to get a beer. you to get a sponsor or some shit or join a fuckin club. Im sorry but that is fuckin gay right there. I thought about utah but tahoe sounds way more fun and laid back. 3.2 % beer and they dont tell you? Sorry but when I have a good day on the hill I dont want mormons breathing down my back to convert.....sounds like an anal state if you ask me and to the kid who said they couldnt find anyone that smoked at u of u...WOW when you having trouble finding people that smoke at any college that is REALLY weird im sorry.
so my family has been in the tahoe city area since 1975... i grew up skiing alpine squaw and the occaisional run up to boreal for nights... sugar bowl, basically lived at ASI and donner summit through the late 90's, and would say im pretty familiar with tahoe skiing. i absolutley love it. if i had to pick one ski area for the rest of my days it would be alpine meadows, hands down...
that said... there is no way tahoe snow can compete with utah snow. ive lived in utah for the last 6 years or so, and have put in a good number of days out here. tahoe areas have one, or maybe two days a year where the snow quality is comparable. this is just fact. you dont ever roll up to alta and worry about getting rained on, since the base is higher than high camp at squaw. not to bag on tahoe, cause i love the north shore/donner areas, and have from the time i could put on a pair of skis 24 years ago.
all this said, you just cant beat the greatest snow on earth. theres no argument here.
Have u ever been to Snowbird or Alta. I mean i personally didnt like Park City that much other than the park skiing but those to resorts alone make utah amazing.
tahoe snow is so flipping heavy, wasnt the saying "sierra cement" because of how heavy the snow is there due to warm weather. The only place that was good in tahoe was kirkwood because its elevation was higher than the rest of the resorts so it good good snow.
Yo, you better not come to Utah, I'm Mormon and if you come I put my Voodoo spells on you. Then I'll brain-wash you and make you join my church, hahaha. You people are a bunch of douche bags.
well it seems like people here have some kind of learning disability and cant figure out that im not ragging on the skiing at all. and tahoe definitely can get the sierra cement, but whatever, i have alot of fun here, twice as much as i ever did living in utah
Utah is terrible, I've lived here for like 4 years and haven't really ever had fun. No one should move here, infact everyone who lives here should probably leave too.
yea being from the east coast and all, i would have to agree. king crown sux balls. i mean who would want to hit 50-80 footers in the sun all day. i mean i would much rather ski 30 footers in overcast anyday of the week. yea i will never go to utah ever again. these threads are so gay
To each his own I guess. Tahoe is pretty kick ass, but you know, Utah has some good skiing, and the powder is good so we can't complain. Besides, you don't come to Utah for the beer or smokables, you come to ski Alta's backcountry and Park City's super duper park.
kirkwood is good but squaw and alpine are only ok at the peaks and i've never skied donner yet but the real stuff u gotta learn to ski is the east coast ice. You ski that and you can ski anywhere.
wow your so hardcore your from tahoe..you ski like sick gnar lines and deep deep pow..hit 80 ft cliffs while your bangin a girl..utahs soo gayyy blah blah...dude....i have been to utah and been to tahoe..tahoes sick,,,donner is amazing...but if i had to choose...i would go utah no doubt...yes the powder is sicker...to me skiing is more important than beer and herb..if you dont like churchies than ignore them..i would choose alta or snowbird over squaw on any day of the week...mammoth definetely has a sick park..but its not really in tahoe...its like 3 or 4 hours away..park city has a more than ample park to wet my whistle.
Wait a second, you started a thread in SKI GABBER titled "Utah's Gay" and were the retarded ones for thinking you somewhat didnt care for the skiing in Utah. If it has nothing to do with skiing put it in non-ski gabber. And dont title something "Utah's gay".
On a second note, im moving out to Utah to go to school and I've heard a ton of shit about how theres not much partying out there. If I can find one other person on the whole campus that wants to have a good time then we will. Its not that hard to set everything up yourself. If i have to get a fake then so be it. If i have to smoke a little more to get high, then I will. These are such little things to complain about. Big parties are overrated anyway. Ive been to more than my share of college 200+ person parties and after a while it was just a ton more fun to stay in the dorms and drink with all your true friends than to party with strangers. Im not worried about it. And if all else fails I'll go skiing and forget all my worries. To me skiing is the best release. I mean, I love drinking and all but if I can get out on the hill I am in a great place.
^sorry for the mini-rant. I was kinda rambling towards the end but u get my point. If u like Tahoe, cool. Dont call Utah gay just to be a dick and then get offended when everyone calls you a dick.
