OK...A lot of you know how I feel about this already. If you have a problem with them making a movie about 9/11 think about this. Ok its a movie about a true story of horrible thing that happened, and yes a lot of innocent people died. And now there is a movie about it.
Every year there are tons of movies that are made that involve murder, rape, theft, disease a lot of horrible things that are TRUE stories of things that actually happened. I never heard anyone getting this pissed about the Tom Hanks movie "Philadelphia" where he had AIDS. Oh wait what about JARHEAD, what about Bowling for columbine...I could go on forever about this.
You do realize that NEWS agencies make money too. So if we were not allowed to make money off of anything bad that happened there would be no CNN no MSNBC, there would be no news. The point is that yes, they are going to make money off of this movie, just like news agencies have made millions. But the intent is to pass on a story that needs to be told, NOT TO MAKE MONEY!!!
You guys need to get over the fact that they made a movie about 9-11. I havnt seen it but im sure its a great film that all of us can appreciate and learn a lot from.

movies have been made about things much worse. ww2? the genocide in rwanda? vietnam? the only difference between "World Trade Center" and movies made about the topics i just listed is that they were made at least 20-30 years after the incident occured. i dont think the movie is a bad idea as it commends the heros involved with the horrific event, i just think it might be abit too soon. and also if they are donating money to victims, then i have no beef with it. if they were using this movie simply as a median to cash out, then i'd be tossing gas-bombs

I am sick of these sort of threads, including political threads. Someone make a political cult so I dont have to wade through massive ammounts of these threads, because no body is a policial expert here, but we all talk like we do. (Including myself)

what would you prefer to talk about? By all means, if you have more
interesting discussion topics, make several threads. Personally, Snakes
on a Plane and sex in highschool get old after a while.

yep there is no way it is to make money thats why they made it into a MAJOR hollywood movie starring a MAJOR hollywood actor and spent massive amounts of money on production and advertising.ohhh and im sure they are gonna give away ALL the money to charities.

So would you rather them pick a horrible actor and and do a half ass job on producing the film. That would be a great way to honor the people that died.

I actually saw the movie last night. And I must say, it was very well done, unlike other Oliver stone movies it was neutral and a true story. It was a good movie of survival through a horrible event. I even cried at some points. And being in New York and being so close to this tragedy and to people that were affected I am glad they mad this movie because it was very very well done.

how is it too soon? i watched the movie and it deff made me remember what happened, and it even made it more personal. I live in alberta, quite a ways from NYC. I didnt know anyone who died or anything. This movie made me understand more of what all the families went through.

so your saying that you would rather have them choose a shitty actor. Oh wait you must be one of those fucks that are against this film. You fucking people thinking your so right, fucking A man. Lets never speak about something bad ever again! Cause if you even mention something bad that happened to someone you are a horrible person for even talking about it. GROW THE FUCK UP!!!

This isn't even the first movie that will profit from 9-11. United 93 was released in April and was about the flight where the passengers rose up against the terrorists and crashed the plane before it hit it's target.
there's no reason to get up in arms about this. Just think of how many films have been made about the haulacaust, vietnam, pearl harbour etc. It's an expression and a documentation of history. Sure film makers make make money, but so do historians who reccount history to students in a class room.

world trade center isn't morally wrong in my opinion. they portrayed the brave heroes who tried to save lives in a very good light. if you have a better idea as how to honor these heroes nationally (besides pre-existing monuments), i'm all ears.
