if you work at a place where you punch in and out you need to keep all of your time slips when you punch out and ask your manager or employer for you records that show how many hours you worked in that pay period. match up the times you punched out with to what your records say, here's why:
i worked (quit today) at tony romas in calgary canada. the managers are paid their bonuses based on how low they keep LABOUR and some other costs. these bonuses are thousands of dollars for the year. the bar manager at my work (my freinds brother) was told to take off time from an employees time record. she worked till' 8:30 but he had to change it to 8:00. so he told his brother and I to keep track of our hours. so yesterday i compaired the two slips(punch out time and the record for the week) and they cutt off an hour and a half of mine and my freinds work time, and who knows how much more they have taken off previousley which really pisses me off. many of the other employees have noticed this as well. they do this to keep labour costs low so they can get their bonuses. i also taped a peice of paper to the punch in machine saying to check your hours and the manager yelled so hard at me today.
so no matter how nice your managers seem you should always keep your records and don't trust them(seriously). i am going to write their head offices as well so i am defanitly doing something about it. it is ranty and i am so pissed right now

I want to keep track of my hours, but do any of you have a way to keep track of that shit? My punch-in machine is all digital, no cards to keep. If something like this happens will me just keeping a hand record of start/end time be enough?

so is the one where i work, punch in the number them it scans your hand for fingerprints to identify you.
keep a little pad in you car or wherever and write down approx. when you clock in/out.
the payroll lady where i work is the company drunk and gave me a paycheck las month saying i worked 6 hours instead of 106. got that shit worked out though
