HDPE and coaping

to all you guys who use the HDPE stuff, do you have coaping on the edges of your box or don't you, and if you don't, is it a problem at all? cause i don't know if its a problem i need to look into with the construction of my box, or if it's a problem at all. any info would be great

i used hdpe and didnt use coping, it worked out fine.

Pretty much the only thing that coping does it protect the sides of the plastic from chipping and scraping. I did not use it on my box and the sides of the plastic have been chipped a couple times, but it is not much of an issue. The box still slides very well with a couple dents and cuts in the sides of the plastic. The money you would spend on coping for the box would be better spent on thicker hdpe plastic.

i dont have coping yet because ive been working on some things, but i have a hard time doing pretzels and stopping rotation with out any metal to grab.

i don't want metal coaping cause it gets all rusty and stupid and stuff, but i don't want the edges to chip or scrape, so should i maby use some small pvc piping?? yes no?

how much did you guys pay for your hdpe? and what was the sq/ft?

I paid $70 for 13 square feet of 3/8" thick black HDPE. It's a little more expensive than the standard hdpe, but it's uv stabilized so it won't become brittle if it's left in the sun for a long time. I bought it at

precut in 4x1 pieces (I also bought a 1x1 square), and shipping was $15. The hdpe came with a plastic film over it to protect it from scratches, and had a very smooth finish when the film was removed. I'd recommend buying from them if you cannot find a local shop to supply you with plastic.
