Cheap place to stay around Hood?

I'm planning on taking a trek down to Hood from Seattle in a couple weeks, but I don't want to spend $140/night to stay at Timberline. Any cheap places (hostel anyone?) to stay around Hood?
Alternatively, any recommendations for places to park my car while I sleep in it?

The old airstrip. Bring a tent for camping, or sleep in the car.

AIRSRTIP
bring a tent, any will do. set it up, its free. bring a sleeping bag. but it can get chilly nowadays. find dry firewood (there should be plenty). bring food. cook it with the wood in flames. ski, or what have you.

I just ended up parking in the lot at Timberline and sleeping there. Worked great!
