i can honestly say that in my research i have found no good laptops for $1000 or less. in my opinion, if you are going to buy a computer, you should get a more expensive one or at least one that is equipped well enough to where it's not going to be a piece of shit in 2 years. for the cheaper end of the scale, i'd check out macbooks. i think you can get the basic model for around $1500.
i got an hp dv1660se i think it's called for 1050. it's pretty sweet for the price, if you want a good value i dont see why you'd ever get a mac, unless you need one cuz you're into some kinda AV thing.
at first i wanted a big screen for my laptop, but this is a widescreen one so you can see plenty, it's really nice and super portable. it's weird cuz now when i look at normal comp screens that aren't wide screen they look super tall. but yea i like this one so far, only been usin it for a few weeks though.
that's pretty much like my laptop, except i have a 100GB hard drive. i got the HP DV1650CA, 14" widescreen just like on that one, and yeah, it's really light and i don't have any problems with the size of the screen. i love it.
alienware man i just got mine i fuckin love it but not for 1000 bucks your gonna have to put in a little more, you wont find anythign too good for a grand
Alright so here is my opinion- when I went to college I built a $1,700 Dell laptop. After 2 years the motherboard broke and it was useless. It was going to be $500 to replace the motherboard, so I just bought a new computer- FUCK DELL. After being on the phone with some Dell employee named Vishnu for 4 hours trying to find out out if they had some sort of trade in or returning customer deal (my family owns 4 dell computers) and getting shut down by some guy who couldn't speak english, I bought a pretty good Gateway computer (64bit AMD Turion Processor, ATI graphics) from bestbuy with a 3 year no hassle bestbuy warranty, where if it breaks, they just replace it, and I just have to walk into Bestbuy and talk to somebody who can speak english. The whole thing with the warranty cost less than $900, and just to be sure I was getting a good deal I customized one on the gateway website with the same specs and it was mote than $500 more. Granted, I don't play hardcore games or do video editing, but it is more than good enough for me. Check out bestbuy because of their warrantees and because they buy computers in bulk and pass the savings onto you. And fuck dell.
well if you click on educational discounts, and then search for ibook g4, you will find it. that's why the link doesn't work, because i was under the educational discount...here's a picture
