I am relatively new to sliding rails etc. When I first started, I didn't know which side was "natural" so I picked right leg fwd and went with it. Having recently been on a skateboard for the first time, however, I find it a LOT easier to ride left foot fwd. Does this suggest my "natural" rail slide is left foot fwd? Have I learned the hard way? I have never tried to slide left foot fwd on a rail
I have the same thing going on. I ride my skateboard regular (left foot foward) but i slide rails right foot foward. But its not a problem at all, just use whatever side is most comfortable for you, and since you just started doing rails im assuming rails in general are uncomfortable for you. So just experiment with differnt leading foots and see what you like best.
when i was learning rails i tried going left foot forward cuz i thought that was what your supposed to do. then i tried right foot forward and it was way easier so ive stuck with that and i do right foot forward for skating and snowboarding too so i would assume its related.Â
my freind thought he was left fwd for like a year until he tried the other way and found it to be a hell of a lot easier haha hes good both ways now though so it worked out
one of the best ways to find out with foot is your "strong" foot is to stand shoulder width and have someone push in the chest and see which you step back with to support your self when board like skate or wake your strong foot is the rear but i would say for sliding rails do whatever makes you comfortable
i skateboard with my left foot forward, i bike with my left foot forward, i snowboard with my left foot forwar, i slide on hard wood floors woth my left foot forward, but i slide rails with my right foot forward
yeah for most ppl its the opposite foot that you put foward on a board. cuz i put my right foot foward on a skateboard and i slide left foot foward. the hardwood floor idea is really good tho
theres a snowboarder who rides goofy but skateboards regular. i thouhgt that was weird.
and i heard another way to tellis to stand straight and have someone push you. whichever foot goes out first to stop u is the foot that should be foward
tht actually works, i just tried it out, and my left foot is forward, also, the odd time i ride my friends skate, im pretty sure my left foot is forward.
Try it out, if you are more comfartable with your right foot forward, stick with it, or vice versa
I don't really have a preference any more but I'm a lot more comfortable spinning on to the left, even if it's just a 90. Like switch on to right foot forward just feels weird.
i skate a lot more than i ski and i skate regular so 50-50s on handrails made it pretty mandatory that i grease rails left foot forward (skis)... i mean it's only a fucking 90 degree "spin" on
when i first tried rails i tried right foot forward, cuz thats the way i spin to do like 3s and shit. soooo i bailed a few times then i was like ok lets try spinning right (left foot forward). so i did, and it was way easier, slid the whole mailbox byy the 3rd try, and it was all good. so the point is, just try both ways and whatever u dont fall on is natural. unless u are a god and can do both ways on ur first try
Do it both ways if you consistantly change it up you get better at both and when it comes to an urban set up you won't be like doh i cant slide it that way. I wakeboard right fowrd bike right foward snowboard left spin (mainly) left but right onto rails tho i can spin and slide pretty naturally anyway. same on my bike nd board theres no pont only being able to go one way...
when i first learned rails i did right leg in front but then left leg was harder so i would suggest to try to learn both. it will make it easier for doin like 270s on or like 180 at a kink
