Physical strain? Or physical condition? No doubt that a decent swimmer would kill highschool football players in any kind of conditioning. But there is no way that after a race a swimmer or runner is as physically battered as a football player. O well though im done arguing, there really is no point. An athlete is an athlete regardless of the sport.

it isnt physical strain from running hard usually, it is from taking hits.

It has been a few years since I was in high school but we called them "daily doubles" not "two-a-days". Perhaps that is in Oregon thing, I prefer the way daily doubles roles of the tongue.

my point wasnt what sport was tougher iwas just saying what is worse running around in 100 degree heat, or runinng around with pads and a helmet on in 100 degree heat?

yea but football players stand half the time...offense gets to stand and rest while defense plays...defense waits while offense plays...and special teams hardly ever does anything...so u have helmets and pads...the extra weight plus the waiting is pretty much equal to less pads and no waiting...u play 90 minutes offense and defense...with a 10 maybe 15 minute half...
i dunno if tryouts are differnt but ours are non stop ...couple water breaks thats it....however i see our football team standing in groups half the time waiting for another group to finish a drill...
dont get me wrong...football has got to be fuckin tiring...but i dont think either sport is harder than the other...

Dude I've seen the running many football teams do at the highschool level and there are 3-4 kids that are always walking in the back. The speed they "run" at in full pads is a slow jog. There isn't a big difference between full out running and sprinting with no gear on, and jogging with full gear on.

double sessions almost everyday for field hockey, sometimes triple sessions. also captians practices. plus we have harder tryouts/practices then football. obviously football takes more physical strength and whatnot, but it's basically a huge joke. our football team sucks balls.

i dont think i have 2 a days for football this year, but i have no idea. we start the 20th, cause thats teh earliest we can start i think.
philipc, i would like to meet a soccer kid in my school who could kick my ass
to the kid who said that the offense and defense get to sit, i dont know about other schools but at mine, almost everyone plays both ways, and the starters usually start both ways.
and to skiierman, yeah theres always the kid who is way behind in the running.
but i agree that most sports are more conditioned than football, and i know that this year should be easy for me because im not in bad shape

Yeah, I would agree with you even though I play soccer. I told all my friends that play football that I am glad I play soccer because I think the football workouts look extremely hard. What was funny was that my friends that play football said that they probably couldnt make it through our soccer workouts. I think there is mutual respect between football and soccer at our school, I actually weight lift and run with some of my friends that play football in the offseason.

yea... funny thing on my team.
no huddle offense, so we never stop.
short numbers, im defintely starting offense, possibly starting defense.
and you definately havent put on full football pads before, becuase when youve got your shoulder pads strapped up its hard to breath. and football pants with the pads dont give your legs full mobility

oh yea, im in the middle of two-a-days. and i was late to video, so i had to run 6, 30 yard suicides (start at the goal line, sprint 10 yards, sprint back, sprint 20, back, 30, back, 5 up downs. that 6 times)

i have 2 a days for soccer...and im sure thru out this thread there has been a lot of soccer vs. football saying which is harder...honestly i see the football players in their two a days and theres is nothing like hours...we jog 5 miles then do an hour of sprints..at 7 in the morning..for 2 weeks straight..then at night we play..its pretty tuff
