Rubber Coated Scratch FS vs. Gloss

I picked a pair of 174 scratch fs's up last fall, and I'm confident saying they're the raddest skis I've ever been on. But I have a question, maybe someone can answer it. My skis have a rubber coating on the top sheet which is pretty cool, but I've seen people at other hills with a harder, glossier topsheet surface. Does anyone know why Rossignol made two different versions of the FS?

the glossy ones delam and shit. they put the rubber topsheet to reduce vibrations, making the ski last a lot longer without falling apart

actually, it is more than just delam prevention. When you clank your shit together the rubber will absorb a little, to prevent those damnass little nicks all the way down the sidewall that turn into holes which allow water into the core and make it soft and breakable. Also, when you get ur grab, your hand wont slip around, so your grab is much more solid.

do you think if i sent back my glossy skis (that have been used) they'll give me the rubbery stuff? cause mine have a ton of nicks along the sidewall like you said and ten or so cracks across the tips

This rubber stuff sounds sweet ass. Why don't they use this on all the park skis? Would be so much better.

they dont use them on all park skis cus of price.
That along with thc core and ruberized tips and tails makes the scratch an expensive ski.
