Is this worth it?

There's a study going on out here in Denver at the University hospital that i'm thinking of participating in. HEre's the deal with it all. It's a 19 day study, 6 of the days you must stay at the University clinic where the study is being conducted but you can walk around the facility and whatnot, but 10 of the days are spent directly in bed; no getting up at all. They put your bed up at a 30 degree angle 3 times a day so you can eat and the rest of the time you lay there flat, but you can roll around and lay on your side or whatever. They're testing a new drug that supposedly keeps muscles from weakening for people with illness that can't really do anything until they are better. So here's the thing that makes me want to do it, they pay you $4,225 for those 19 days of study cash. so my question is do you think it's worth it because i think I may do it.

so you have to spend 10 days in bed and another 6 in the hospital. if you really need the money do it but youll get really bored and it will suck. sure it sounds nice "yeah ill stay in bed all day" but think about it, that would suck

so, you spend 10 days in bed. your muscles will shrivle up and get really shitty. but therye testing a drug that suposedly stops this? so what if the drug doesnt work? youre fucked.

yea but i can go work out and gain them right back. I'm still young so it's not hard to do that, and then i have 4 grand for a sick new set-up this season

i don't know man.  i can barely sleep in my bed for more than 6 hours.  10 days just seems whack.  i guess load up a few ipods and mad magazines cause it's gonna be tough

id do it, i posd crochet needle a shit load of yarn and some porno mags and ur set, but ull prob feel sick when u get up on the 10th day. cuz ur body will be use to laying down on ur side or ur back and the min u stand up ull prob feel pretty sick. just to let u know

It'll be boring as hell and I'd go crazy if I sat around for that long, but that is a lot of money. I'm sure it will be really shitty to go through the whole thing but that's a pretty fast way to earn $4k.

they will probialy give you daily heprin injections to thin out your blood and prevent blood clots ^^

my cousin was in bed for 3 months because of being burned in an explosion, he said that the daily heprin injections were worse than being fully engulfed in flames... so... maybe its not worth the 4 grand

I would jump on that in no time. You do realize that it is the equivalent of a 60,000 salary, right? FOR FUCKING LYING DOWN! I'd take books, music a few mags and a cellphone for texting (your friends who probably work their asses off for a lot less money, you know...jus tto remind them that you're getting like idunnowhat an hour for sleeping)

what do u do for the other three days?  u said 19 day study, 10 of which are spent lying down and 6 u are in the hospital or w/e.  what about the other three days.  and if u think about for those 16 days you are technically "working" for 24 hours a day, so it would be about 11 bucks an hour or something.  anyway, if u could bring a laptop or something to go online and post updates on NS about how it is that'd be awesome

for spring break a bunch of my fraternity brothers and i did a pharmicy study at alleghanney med in pittsburgh, it was boring as hell and had some nasty side affects but for the 9 day study we each got 6180 cash money for our time. if you aint got nothing better to do it is good money. but they have to pick you. 9 of us went down to do this study and only 5 of us actually did it. in ours to guys were disqualified becasue there tatoos were less than 12 months old. 1 got disqualified for testing pos to weed and the other had too much or not enough iron in his blood or something. just to let you know

alright so here's the deal:

I just got off the phone with the Doc and I'm choosing to go ahead and do it. So for all of you that are curious here's what's up with it. They give a day by day compensation so even if I bitch out after like 12 days i get paid for all that. They allow you to read, bring ipod, watch tv, etc, and they even give you a lapton with internet to use whenever you want so maybe i'll make a new thread when i get there and give a little day by day thing. So it's not a bad deal at all if you ask me. And they let visitors come in whenever. The only thing i'm a little eh about is that they have to do 4 muscle biopsys, but whatever theyre not bad. Everything else seems pretty legit about it all though. $4,225 will help though because I'm taking a year off school so I figure that when the study starts all my friends will already be off to school and I'll be lying on my bed at home all the time anyways and not being paid for it, so why not.
